Wednesday Night into Thursday — Travel Impact Alert

Light snow will develop Wednesday night, mainly across interior southern New Brunswick and the Bay of Fundy coast, leading to slippery and snow-covered roads for the Thursday morning commute.

A low-pressure system tracking from Ontario into Quebec will send an occluded front southeastward across the province, extending toward a weak triple-point low near the Maine coast. This setup will spread light snow across much of New Brunswick overnight.

Snowfall amounts will generally be light in the north and central, with a dusting expected, while southern New Brunswick could see 5 to 10 centimetres, where the coastal low enhances snowfall.

Overnight temperatures will be cold enough for accumulation everywhere, ranging from the minus teens across northern areas to the minus single digits inland south, with near-zero temperatures along the coast. As a result, roads will become messy and slick by Thursday morning.

Thursday — Ongoing Snow Shower Risk North

The main system will lift northeast of the province on Thursday, but lingering instability combined with a weak upper-level disturbance may keep snow showers going across northern New Brunswick.

There is a low but notable risk of an isolated snow squall Thursday afternoon, which could briefly coat roadways and sharply reduce visibility, especially in exposed areas.

Bottom Line

• Light snow Wednesday night, heavier south
• Slippery roads Thursday morning
• Isolated snow squall possible north Thursday afternoon

Drivers should be prepared for rapid changes in road and visibility conditions, particularly during the Thursday morning commute.
