September is .
It is an opportunity for the community to learn about and celebrate Ukrainian culture, history, traditions, and the contributions Ukrainian Canadians have made to Ontario for more than 130 years.
This year’s theme is “Culinary Heritage of Ukraine”. Visit the Jackson Square Lobby and 2nd Floor cube displays to learn about the significance of culinary items like the Korovai in highlighting the Ukrainian community's shared experiences.
The Korovai is a traditional Ukrainian wedding bread presented to the couple by their parents or godparents. Its intricate shape and decorations are rich with meaning. Traditionally, seven women from the village gather to bake it, each contributing her own flour. It is believed that the baker's happiness and good fortune are passed into the bread.
