Binbrook has many recreational facilities available, such as small water craft rentals for paddling, kayaking or canoeing on the lake, a swimming area complete with a splashpad and beach volleyball court, hiking trails, and grassy areas ideal for picnics and pickup soccer. As a host to weddings, birthdays, and annual family gatherings, the conservation area is both a welcoming environment to the c

ommunity and a hot spot for outdoor recreation! Bring your friends and family and come enjoy a day in the outdoors! About fishing at Binbrook:
Fish consumption advisories are in place based on the levels of contaminants in fish at this location. The fish in Lake Niapenco contain chemicals called Per/Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and mercury, which are a risk to human health if consumed. Make sure to check the Guide to Eating Ontario Fish to find out how to reduce your risk of consuming chemicals.

Thinking about taking a swim this weekend?

Natural water bodies are great places to play, swim, and cool off on a hot sunny day – but swimming in these areas is not risk-free. The conditions and quality of the water can change quickly due to a number of environmental factors, such as rain, high wind, and wildlife.

Before you go:
🌐Check water conditions on our website
⛅Be aware of weather
👥Make sure someone knows where you’re going, and when you’ll be back

While you’re there:
💦 Never swallow beach water at any time
🧼 After swimming, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer
🤝 Stay within reach of children and non-swimmers

Stay safe and enjoy your visit!

A beautiful sight to see! 😍

A pair of Eastern Bluebirds has built a nest at Binbrook Conservation Area in one of dozens of boxes that have been installed, monitored, and maintained by volunteers from Glanbrook Conservation Committee for decades.

Without proper monitoring and stewardship these boxes often get overtaken by non-native birds, including House Sparrows. Thank you to the GCC members for your labour of love.

📷 Thank you to Steve Macintyre for sharing these beautiful photos!

If you want to start your own bluebird box trail, there are plenty of resources available on: https://oebs.ca/

Thanks to decades of conservation work, these lands are cared for so this generation, and those to come, can continue to explore, connect, and enjoy nature close to home.🌳

April marks the 80th anniversary of the Conservation Authorities Act. As the role of conservation authorities continues to evolve, it’s important to recognize the lasting impact this legislation has had.

This milestone is a chance to celebrate the collective efforts of conservation authorities and the many partners, municipalities, volunteers, and community members who have worked together to manage natural resources and natural hazards across Ontario over the past 80 years.

From flood protection to stewardship and environmental restoration, this work plays a vital role in keeping communities safe and natural spaces healthy.🌿
