Yesterday, our Traffic Safety Unit focused on the area of King Street West and Macklin Street. Twelve provincial offence notices were given to drivers who were caught violating traffic safety rules. Additionally, three drivers were arrested and charged for Stunt Driving - each had their drivers license suspended for 30 days, their vehicles impounded for 14 days, and will now have to attend court to answer for their excessive speeds. UPDATE: The police investigation in the area of Upper Ottawa Street has concluded. The item has been assessed and the area has been deemed safe.

All traffic disruptions have been cleared and roads have reopened.

Hamilton Police are on scene in the area of Upper Ottawa Street between Anson Avenue and Mohawk Road East for an ongoing investigation.

Traffic disruptions are expected while officers complete their work. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes where possible.

There is currently no timeline for when the investigation will be complete. Updates will be provided as available.

DETECTIVE FOR A DAY: Breaking Down Barriers and Building Connections

Last week, Hamilton Police officers partnered with youth from Miskha Organizations for our Detective for a day Proaction Cops and Kids event. Working side by side in a series of escape room challenges located at Alcatraz, 604 Concession Street, youth and detectives from Division 30 used critical thinking and teamwork to solve each mission. Lunch at Parlour Dairy Bar, located at 581 Concession Street, was enjoyed by everyone! Thanks for the fun!
