Hamilton Dream Center Announces Temporary Closure Following Catastrophic Fire
Hamilton, ON - Friday may1st 2026— The Hamilton Dream Center is deeply saddened to announce the temporary closure of its facility following a catastrophic fire that caused significant damage to the building early this morning.
Emergency services responded quickly, and we are grateful to report that no lives were lost. At this time, the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but the impact on our operations is substantial. As a result, all programs and services will be paused until further notice.
For years, the Hamilton Dream Center has been a place of hope and support for the community-providing meals to those in need, outreach programs for families and children, and a safe space for connection and care. This unexpected loss affects not only our team but the many individuals and families who rely on these essential services.
“We are heartbroken by what has happened, but we are not without hope,” said [Rebekah Hill], [Executive Director]. “The Dream Center has always been about people, not just a building. We are committed to rebuilding and continuing to serve our community stronger than ever.”
In the coming days, the organization will share updates regarding recovery efforts, temporary service solutions, and ways the community can support the rebuilding process.
We extend our deepest thanks to the first responders, volunteers, and community members who have already offered their support during this difficult time.
*some animals did perish in the fire. The Dream Center cat, Lady marmalade, was rescued by HAMILTON firefighters and is recovering well.
