As the countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026 begins, we’re shining the spotlight on members of our PMI Nova Scotia community and the teams they’ll be cheering for! 🙌

This week: Silva, Principal Program Manager at Adobe, proudly supporting **Brazil**

🏆 Fun fact: Brazil is the *only* nation to play in every FIFA World Cup since 1930 — a true legacy of consistency and passion!

⚽ Diego’s take on project management + soccer?

Diego says-
“Both involve a bunch of people running around in circles chasing a single goal, while a guy with a whistle tries to prevent absolute chaos and everyone secretly blames the strategy (referee) when things go wrong.” 😆

And yes… he’ll definitely be cheering for Brazil! 🔥

🌍 Exciting news from the Project Management Institute Nova Scotia Chapter!

We’re thrilled to host our **First-ever PMINS event outside the Halifax Regional Municipality** as part of our commitment to building stronger connections with project management professionals across the province.

🌍⚽ PMI Nova Scotia FIFA World Cup Spotlight – Meet Meriem Merbai!
As we count down to the FIFA World Cup 2026, we’re spotlighting members of our PMI Nova Scotia community and the countries they’ll be cheering for!
This week, meet Meriem Merbai, Design Team Lead, proudly cheering for Algeria.
🏆 World Cup spirit?
Algeria made football history in the 1982 FIFA World Cup after the controversial “Disgrace of Gijón” match between West Germany and Austria eliminated Algeria under suspicious circumstances. The controversy led FIFA to change the rules so final group-stage matches are now played simultaneously to help prevent teams from playing for a mutually beneficial result.
And if that wasn’t enough — Algeria also shocked the world in 1982 by defeating West Germany 2–1 in one of the greatest World Cup upsets ever!

Meriem says:
“Both require teamwork, strategy, quick decision-making, and somehow everyone still debates whether the original plan was the right one.”

PMINS Member Social – FIFA World Cup Watch Party: Canada vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina ⚽🇨🇦🇧🇦

Join PMI Nova Scotia Chapter members for a casual and engaging FIFA World Cup 2026 watch party as Canada takes on Bosnia & Herzegovina in Canada’s first match of the tournament.

Kickoff starts at 4:00 PM, and we have reserved tables for PMI Nova Scotia members who would like to watch the game together in a fun, relaxed, and social atmosphere.
This member social is intended to bring project management professionals, volunteers, and members together outside of traditional professional development settings to connect, network, and enjoy one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

Whether you are cheering for Canada, Bosnia & Herzegovina, or simply joining for the atmosphere and networking, feel free to stop by at any point during the game, pop in whenever works for you!

One complimentary drink and light fare will be available for attendees.

As we count down to the FIFA World Cup 2026, we’re spotlighting members of our PMI Nova Scotia community and the countries they’ll be cheering for!
This week, meet Dashuai Sun, Senior Analyst at RBC Chief Data Office, originally from China and now proudly settled in Canada
🏆 World Cup spirit?
China qualified for the FIFA World Cup only once — back in 2002 — and while fans are still waiting for another appearance, Dashuai is proudly cheering for China 🇨🇳 as excitement builds for FIFA World Cup 2026. At the same time, Canada 🇨🇦 is making history as a host nation for the Men’s World Cup for the first time ever!

As we count down to the FIFA World Cup 2026, we’re spotlighting members of our PMI Nova Scotia community and the countries they’ll be cheering for!
This week, meet Odeniyi, Business Development Executive, proudly representing Nigeria.
🏆 World Cup spirit?
FIFA World Cup 2026 is making history as the first tournament to be co-hosted by three nations — Canada, the USA, and Mexico — and the first expanded to a record-breaking 48 teams! While Nigeria unfortunately missed out on qualifying this time, Akin is proudly cheering for Canada 🇨🇦 as they prepare to play men’s World Cup matches on home soil.

Akin says:
“Both require executing a strategic game plan through flawless teamwork, real-time adaptability, and clear communication to overcome obstacles and hit the ultimate target.”
