National School Bus Safety Awareness Week is here! October 19–23, Safety Services Nova Scotia is proud to mark more than 15 years of supporting this important campaign and helping keep students safe on and around school buses across Nova Scotia.

A special thank you to for partnering for this year’s campaign and helping us bring important school bus safety educational resources to schools across the province.

An important reminder for our community: When a school bus has flashing red lights, STOP. Passing a school bus with its red lights flashing is illegal. First-offence penalties include a $410 fine and six demerit points.

We all have a role to play in protecting our students. Help spread the word by sharing school bus safety resources in your community, and encourage young artists to enter our 2026 School Bus Safety Drawing Contest for a chance to have their artwork featured in next year’s campaign!
