: our roadshow to discuss the Regulated Health Professions Act in person with social workers across the province was going to visit in Bridgewater and Yarmouth this week, but we've elected to cancel these two events due to low enrolment. However, we will be offering a virtual version on June 26 (https://eventbrite.ca/e/1990018852959). This free virtual event will also be recorded for the benefit of NSCSW members who aren't able to join live. We apologize for the short notice and hope you are able to join us online.

NSCSW members are invited to share feedback & insights related to upcoming regulatory changes in Nova Scotia

Happy Pride Month! June is a time for celebration and reflection as social workers across Canada honour the strength, joy, and resilience of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

Social workers have a responsibility to protect q***r and trans lives and to advocate for inclusive, affirming care. As we celebrate the right to live and love openly, CASW encourages social workers to:

- Learn more about 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences
- Advocate for safety and equitable policies
- Build meaningful relationships with q***r and trans communities
- Commit to providing care that is inclusive, empowering, and affirming

Our team is growing! We are hiring for two new roles:

1) Project Lead, Legal Needs Assessment (33 hrs/week): Lead a community-based legal needs assessment to better understand the legal needs of migrant workers and the barriers they face in accessing legal information, services, and justice.

2) English Language Program Coordinator (15 hrs/week): Deliver our English for Migrant Workers Pilot Program, creating meaningful learning opportunities that support connection, confidence, and access to rights.

Both positions offer the opportunity to contribute to strengthening migrant worker rights and community supports in Nova Scotia.

Update: The server that hosts nscsw.org was compromised earlier this week. It's been cleaned up (thank you developers!) but some browsers were still labelling our domain as unsafe until early Friday morning. All appears resolved, but if you are still seeing warnings please leave a comment with the browser you're using so we can have the dev team look into it further.

Fortunately, our registry portal is on a separate secure server which was unaffected. You can always visit https://nscsw.ca.thentiacloud.net/webs/nscsw to verify the registration of a social worker in Nova Scota, apply for registration in our province, or update your own profile if you are already our registrant.

Verifying the registration of a Registered Social Worker or Social Worker Candidate in Nova Scotia has never been easier. Please visit our online public registry to get started.

An important change to the Nova Scotia Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) took effect on April 1, 2026. The legal threshold for sharing personal health information has been slightly lowered, but social workers in this province are still required to follow our code of ethics and standards of practice.
