Welcome to Community Wellbeing in Action, a 'Sunday Summer Series' from our Community Development Team. 🌿

Sometimes trying something new is the first step toward feeling more connected and supported.

In our first Community Wellbeing in Action story, we share a firsthand experience from a Tai Chi class at the CLC in Guysborough and a reminder that recreation is about more than physical activity. It’s about learning something new, building connections, supporting our well-being, and creating opportunities to be part of our community.

Whether it’s Tai Chi, yoga, swimming, fitness, walking groups, or another activity, there are many opportunities to try something new in MODG.

Join us on Saturday, June 27 as the ArtWorks East Summer Gallery officially opens on the Guysborough Waterfront for the 2026 season. 🌊

Come explore a beautiful collection of locally made artwork created by talented artists and makers from across Guysborough County, including paintings, jewelry, quilting, woodworking, stained glass, wire sculpture, and more. ✨

And for the first time ever, the gallery will be open seven days a week — that’s seven days to browse, explore, and enjoy local art all summer long! 🖼️

Learning beyond the classroom! 📚

As part of Belonging Begins Here: MODG's Path to Equity, MODG was proud to support a 'Black Excellence Day' learning opportunity for students at the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia. From a scavenger hunt through the Centre to thoughtful group discussions, students spent the day exploring the rich history, culture, and achievements of African Nova Scotians.
