What does "Crossover" mean to firefighters?

You may have heard firefighters use the term "crossover" - but what does it mean?

When the air temperature surpasses the relative humidity (like 25ยฐC with only 24% humidity), the risk of wildfire skyrockets. Dry grass, brush, and twigs become highly flammable, making fires ignite easily, spread rapidly, and behave unpredictably.

๐Ÿ”ฅ During crossover conditions:

- Fires start instantly
- Flames move fast
- Fire behavior is erratic

Fire bans and restrictions exist for a reasonโ€”they help keep communities safe. Letโ€™s all stay fire smart, especially on those dry, hot days when the crossover effect is in play.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Stay alert. Stay safe. Stop wildfires before they start. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Tonight is the night that all the little (and bigs) will be out and about.
Please be extra cautious in your community and enjoy those treats.
When you're digging through those bags tonight just remember the parent tax has gone up 5% this year.
So you can tell your children you heard it here first ๐Ÿ™‚
