THU SEP 24 @ 1 - 3 PM
Pasture and Silvopasture Management at Belwood Hills Farm

Join us at Belwood Hills Farm for a tour and conversation about farmer Ryan’s pasture and silvopasture management and grazing protocol. He’ll also share about his Experimental Acres trial, to evaluate the strategic forage/shade potential of trees through silvopasture establishment/expansion.

Ryan and Alida Smith and family have stewarded a 100-acre former crop/dairy/housed sheep farm near Belwood for the past 4 years into a diversified pastured animal operation with tree planting, forage diversification, waterlines, and permanent and temporary fencing added.

This event is hosted in partnership with County of Wellington’s Experimental Acres programme and with the Farmers For Climate Solutions - Fermiers pour la transition climatique's Farm Resilience Mentorship Program (FaRM).

Come see regenerative agriculture in action!

Join the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario - EFAO for a farm tour at Timberline Farm near Harriston, Town of Minto on September 24, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Timberline Farmer Jared James has been raising 100% grass-fed beef since 2014, using thoughtful pasture management to support his herd and the land.

During the tour, participants will explore regenerative grazing, pasture management and breed selection, while learning what makes Timberline Farm’s approach unique.

Jared will also share insights from his Wellington County Experimental Acres trial, a farmer-led research project exploring pearl millet as a cover crop and forage within a diversified mix.

This event is hosted in partnership with our Experimental Acres programme and the Farmers for Climate Solutions Farm Resilience Mentorship Program.

- Back to school is here!

Drivers are reminded to slow down, watch for children at crosswalks and bus stops, and stay alert in school zones. A few extra seconds can help keep everyone safe.
~
On rappelle aux conducteurs de ralentir, de faire attention aux enfants aux passages pour piétons et aux arrêts d'autobus, et de rester vigilants dans les zones scolaires. Quelques secondes de plus peuvent contribuer à la sécurité de tous.

September is a great time to start a new school lunch habit: Boomerang Your Lunch!

Not all schools have composting or recycling available. Instead of throwing lunch waste in the garbage at school, bring it home so it can be properly sorted and disposed of.

What goes to school, comes home again!
