We stand in solidarity with s*x workers and recognize International S*x Workers’ Day as a day rooted in resistance, dignity, and the fight for justice.

S*x workers are workers. Yet many continue to face violence, criminalization, discrimination, over-policing, unsafe working conditions, and barriers to healthcare, housing, and legal protections. Stigma puts lives at risk.

No one deserves violence, stigma, or criminalization for how they survive or work.

"Building a Strong, Accessible Canada"

Founded in 1988 as National Access Awareness Week and inspired by Rick Hansen’s Man In Motion World Tour, it is a time to recognize the contributions of people with disabilities and advance accessibility and inclusion in our communities, workplaces, schools, and public places.

This National AccessAbility Week, you can help remove the barriers that quietly exclude people every day.

Breaking - Today, the Supreme Court of Canada decided to create a new tort of intimate partner violence (IPV) in its decision in Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia, recognizing IPV as distinct from other general forms of violence, such as battery and assault, and making it easier for survivors to access compensation for the harms they experienced.

In a decision that is markedly feminist and intersectional, the majority specifically cited LEAF’s argument that access to justice matters when deciding whether to create a new tort.

We are thrilled by the outcome of this case and what it means for survivors. At a time when misogyny is becoming more and more mainstream, this decision marks an important advancement in recognizing and opposing gendered harm.

Observed every May 17th, IDAHOBIT is a powerful reminder that the fight for equality is both a global necessity and a celebration of human spirit. By shedding light on the systemic violence and discrimination LGBTQ+ communities still face—from workplace bias to criminalization—this day serves as a vital call to action for allies and policymakers to champion protective laws and equal rights. Beyond the struggle, it is a moment to honor the incredible resilience and diversity of the community, affirming that every person deserves the right to live authentically, safely, and without fear. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Addressing s*xual violence prevention requires a shift from viewing it as a series of isolated, extreme incidents to understanding it as a continuum of behavior. When we recognize that "small" actions—like a joke or a creepy comment—create the environment where more severe violence can occur, the role of the upstander becomes a primary tool for cultural change.
