Here are the highlights from the September 9, Council Meeting:

▪ S/Sgt. Lacey Blair provided Council with an informational presentation regarding the Grimshaw RCMP Detachment.

▪ Corinna Williams provided Council with a presentation about the Crime Prevention
Association.

▪ Council directed Administration to contact Atco Electric to increase the Franchise Fee from 6% to 8%.

▪ Council approved Policy 6.01 Council, Board and Committee Member Remuneration with amendments.

▪ Council appointed Councillor Allen and Councillor Thompson to the MDP & LUB Review & Rewrite Steering Committee.

▪ Council approved to donate $1000 to the Grimshaw Soccer Club for equipment, and $1000 to Youth for Christ.

▪ Council reviewed the draft budgets for Bylaw, Council, Administration, Community Development, GRHARC, Kennedy Building and Development Appeal.

The next Regular Council Meeting will be September 30, in the Council Chambers. Council would like to welcome residents to attend and view in person. If you wish to speak to our Councilors, please send a written request to [email protected] and we will add you to the next available agenda.

Join us on September 20 for the 46th Annual Terry Fox Run!

Starting at 9:00am at the Grimshaw Fire Hall, everyone is welcome to join and support this great cause.

The annual Terry Fox Run has become a fall tradition in Canada, with more than 650 communities, big and small, urban and rural, English and French, fundraising for cancer research. The Run gives communities the chance to come together to celebrate the impact they can have as a force for good.

GRIMSHAW, AB – The Town of Grimshaw has signed a trial one-year agreement with Integrated Municipal Support (IMS) to provide enhanced bylaw enforcement and community support services for residents.

IMS will start their bylaw services on October 5 and will be working directly out of the Grimshaw Town Office.

Upon commencement of services, IMS will enforce municipal bylaws through proactive patrols, animal control services, and complaint response during contracted hours. Scheduling will be based on the operational needs of the community. While daily hours may vary, IMS will maintain a total of forty hours of service per week. Animal control requests will be responded to as required, including after-hours incidents when necessary.

Join us for 11 WEEKS this time and take part in our FREE Girl Power Program! 🏵️

This program supports teen girls in developing self-esteem, healthy relationships, emotional resilience, and positive peer connections.

Hosted at the Resource Centre for Su***de Prevention - RCSP - North Peace from September 29 to December 2, on Tuesdays from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, snacks and refreshments will be provided, along with activities led by incredible community members.
