🌲 Protecting our local forests
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is undertaking invasive species management work at several conservation areas, including nearby Ball’s Falls and Louth Conservation Areas.
Over the next few weeks, visitors may see crews treating Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, an invasive insect that threatens eastern hemlock trees and healthy forest ecosystems.
If you’re visiting these areas while work is underway, please follow all posted signage and directions.

Invasive species management is an important part of NPCA’s work to protect healthy forests, wetlands and ecosystems across the Niagara Peninsula watershed.🌲
Throughout the year, NPCA staff and qualified contractors monitor and treat Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, an invasive insect that threatens eastern hemlock trees.
During the next few weeks, visitors may see HWA treatment work taking place at Ball’s Falls and Louth conservation areas. This work helps protect eastern hemlock trees and the important role they play in providing wildlife habitat, regulating stream temperatures, and supporting healthy forest ecosystems
