🔥☀️ HOT WEATHER = INCREASED FIRE RISK ☀️🔥

The Grimsby Fire Department is reminding residents to be mindful of mulch, potting soil, and other organic landscaping materials during periods of hot weather and high humidity.

These materials can dry out, build heat, and under certain conditions become a fire hazard.

✅ Keep mulch and potting soil moist
✅ Store materials away from buildings
✅ Turn larger piles regularly
✅ Watch for smoke, heat, or unusual odours

If you see signs of fire, call 9-1-1 immediately.

🚒 Stay Alert. Stay Safe.

COOKING SAFETY REMINDER 🍳☀️

With the warmer weather arriving, many of us are spending more time outdoors, enjoying the sunshine, working in the yard, or spending time with family and friends. It can be easy to become distracted and leave the kitchen “just for a minute.”

Unfortunately, unattended cooking remains the leading cause of home fires.

The Grimsby Fire Department reminds residents to:
✅ Stay in the kitchen while cooking
✅ Keep anything that can burn away from the stove
✅ Avoid distractions, including phones and other activities
✅ Ensure your smoke and CO alarms are working properly

A fire can start in seconds. Staying attentive while cooking can help keep your family, home, and community safe.

🚒 Stay in the kitchen. Stay safe. Save lives.

🚨 Grimsby Fire Department Reminder 🚨
It’s almost the end of the month, time to check your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms!
Working alarms save lives — giving you and your family the early warning needed in an emergency.
✅ Test your alarms monthly
✅ Replace batteries as needed (or at least once a year)
✅ Replace units that are over 10 years old
✅ Make sure you have alarms on every level of your home and outside sleeping areas
Don’t wait for an emergency to find out your alarms aren’t working. Take a minute today to test them — it could make all the difference.
Stay safe, Grimsby. ❤️🔥

🔥 Burn Permits & Open Air Burning- Grimsby, ON 🔥
Did you know that open air burning in Grimsby is regulated by a Burn Permit By‑Law?
Before having any outdoor fire, residents must ensure they are permitted to burn and are following all by‑law requirements. Burning without approval, or failing to follow conditions, can create a serious fire risk and may result in enforcement action.
✅ Always check if a burn permit is required
✅ Follow all permit conditions and safety requirements
✅ Never leave a fire unattended
✅ Ensure weather and wind conditions are suitable

For full details, requirements, and current burn restrictions, please visit the Town of Grimsby website or contact the Grimsby Fire Department.
Fire prevention starts with knowing the rules.
