Aanii / Boozhoo / Hello!

To the anonymous builders responsible for the impressive new structure at the park:

We see you. 👀

We are equal parts impressed, confused, and mildly concerned by the speed at which this project appeared.

Clearly there are some future architects, engineers, project managers, and construction crews living in our neighbourhood.

If you’ve got ideas, initiative, and a habit of looking at a pile of sticks and seeing potential, the East End Youth Council might be exactly your thing.

Join us on June 20 at 1:00 PM and help us build the next great East End project—preferably one that survives the permit process. 😉

We hope to see you there!

🚨 Neighbourhood Safety Meeting Reminder! 🚨

Join us on Wednesday, June 3 at 6:00 PM at the East End Playground for an important conversation about keeping our neighbourhood safe, connected, and informed.

A safer community starts with all of us. Come learn, ask questions, share ideas, and show your support for a stronger East End. The more neighbours involved, the stronger our community becomes.

💙 Please come out and help show what a safer neighbourhood means to all of us. Stronger together, safer together!

✨ Good news is underway at East End Playground! ✨

Some of you may have already noticed the construction happening at the park — and yes, the tear-down has officially begun as we make way for our new outdoor rink!

This is an exciting and much-needed renovation being provided by the City, and we are so grateful to see this important community space being invested in.

A new rink means new opportunities — for the kids just learning to skate, for families making winter memories, for athletes looking for a place to play, and for the decade-long users who have helped make this rink such a special part of our neighbourhood.

We know construction can look messy before it looks exciting, but this is a big step forward for East End Playground and for the future of winter recreation in Minnow Lake.

New rink. Fresh energy. Same community heart. 💙

We can’t wait to see this space come back to life!

🌟 It’s official — East End Playground has its founding Youth Council members! 🌟

What an absolute joy it was to host these incredible kiddos today. We are so proud — and honestly so privileged — to have such awesome young leaders right here in our neighbourhood.

They came in with wonderfully creative ideas, thoughtful suggestions, and a real willingness to listen to one another. They respected each other’s voices, built off each other’s ideas, and showed exactly what community leadership can look like at any age.

And they didn’t just talk about making a difference — they jumped right in.

Our founding members committed to helping make small but meaningful improvements to our beautiful space, and they conquered their very first project with so much eagerness. Together, they helped fill in a potential hazard while also beautifying the area — and the improvements they made are already visible from the road!

That’s something to be proud of. 💛

These kiddos have some truly wonderful ideas, so stay tuned — this is only the beginning.

And if you know a future leader, a big personality, a helper, a creative thinker, or a kiddo who just wants to be part of something positive, make sure to send them our way for the next Youth Council meeting!

We even topped it all off with a cotton candy cake to commemorate our founding members — because big moments deserve a little sweetness. 🍭✨

Here’s to the first step of something really special at East End Playground.

It’s BLUE PUNCH DAY and popcorn at East End Playground at 2:00 pm as we hope to meet neighborhood kiddos that fit ages 10-15 who want to be part of a team, to share ideas and plan future kids events that they’ll absolutely love! Hope to see you there.

Calling all East End kiddos! 📣

This Saturday at 2 p.m., I’m trying something a little new — the very first step toward building a local youth council for our community. My hope is that this can eventually connect into the official Greater Sudbury Youth Council and become something meaningful our youth can truly be proud of and even add to future resumes, applications, and opportunities.

More than anything though, I want our kids to feel like their voices matter. They live here too. They know what’s fun, what’s missing, what they’d love to see happen, and they deserve a seat at the table when we talk about building stronger communities.

We’ll have popcorn, punch, a few fun activities, and lots of space for ideas, conversation, and creativity. This is meant to be relaxed, welcoming, and something the kids can help shape from the ground up.

I truly believe that when young people feel connected to where they live, amazing things can happen. 💛

This idea was inspired by the conversations our VP Amy Voz has been having with the people who care about this space the most. It's a small step, but it's a step in the right direction. We truly care about the people in this community - your voices, your opinions, and your ideas matter to us. Hopefully this little token shows that we're listening, and that we want to keep building something together that everone can feel proud of.
