A successful seasonal pilot is moving to the next stage. Explorers’ Edge and FlixBus have expanded their relationship, with service connecting Toronto to Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, South River and North Bay now extending year-round.

It’s an important step in making rural travel easier without a personal vehicle, while creating new opportunities to grow visitation beyond the traditional summer season

Opera House Presents: “I’m Still Here”

Saturday, September 12th, 2026 at 2:30PM at the Opera House!

This research based drama is based on the real words of people living with dementia and is formed from the work of 2 nurses who were pursuing a PhD on living with dementia.

Moving Scenes is the touring arm of the studio, bringing performances to a wide variety of audiences across the province. For over 20 years, this play has helped audiences to better understand the realities and challenges of living with dementia for individuals, their families and their caregivers, helping to reduce unnecessary suffering and making interactions as productive and meaningful as possible.

Since 1946 the Gravenhurst Lions have been proud members of the world’s largest service organization - Lions Clubs International - which has a membership of over 1.4 million men and women in 48,000 clubs in over 200 countries. We come from all walks of life and work together for a common cause - fulfilling our motto - WE SERVE

We believe in giving back - that’s why 100% of all the donated and raised funds go back to our causes. We cover all our internal administration costs from our own dues. Our global causes are Diabetes, Environment, Hunger, Vision and Childhood Cancer
We are known as Knights of the Blind for our Sight Programs
-We support youth programs with bursaries, sports, etc.
-We provide the Photos with Santa every Fall after the Santa Clause Parade
-We recycle eyeglasses to developing countries
-We do weekly collections of donations for the food bank
-We BBQ at several events in the summer to raise funds and do charity BBQs.
-We provide Leadership Training opportunities
-We have the Lions Sports Hall of Fame at the Arena
-We sell pet memorial tags for the Rainbow Bridge at the Wharf

Segwun Resoration Fundraising campaign Surpasses $3 million Milestone

The Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre (MSDC) is excited to announce a new record milestone in fund raising to support the Restoration and Modernization of the RMS Segwun – Canada’s Living Legend. The total raised to date crossed over the $3.0 Million level on August 18, 2026.

John Miller President of MSDC said, “This is an historic day in the 140-year life of the RMS Segwun and almost guarantees she will sail for another 30+ years. We have completed phase one of the restoration and will start phase two later in the fall. Segwun should be sailing next month”.

Muskoka Small Business Centre: Starter Company Plus Program

The Starter Company Plus (SC+) program gives business owners and entrepreneurs a comprehensive program of training, mentorship and funding opportunities to start or grow an existing business.

You could be eligible to receive a grant of up to $5,000 by the end of the program. The Muskoka Small Business Centre (one of many SC+ program providers) is currently taking applications. The Starter Company Plus program is funded by the Government of Ontario.
