FIRE CONTROL ORDER LIFTED

In accordance with Athabasca County Fire Services Bylaw 015-2023 section 8, the Fire Control Order (Fire Advisory) is now lifted for lands within Athabasca County located outside the Forest Protection Area (FPA).

This revocation comes into effect at 1 o’clock p.m. on the 1st day of June 2026.

This past weekend at the Grassland Show & Shine, the Grassland Volunteer Fire Department proudly hosted its first-ever FireSmart event 🔥🚒

The biggest takeaways from the day:

Every small step we take-from clearing dry debris to creating safer spaces around our homes-helps reduce wildfire risk and protect our families, properties, and community.

Last Tuesday was the Annual Turkey Trot Grassland School the Grassland Volunteer Fire Department with Boyle RCMP and Athabasca County Peace officers provide assistance with for safe arrivals. This is a 30+ year tradition that community supports. A special thank you to Don K for always providing a spot for a hotdog roast and good old fashioned fun.
