It's official, I am the new deputy Mayor elect- although I will still answer to phil! According to election rules I have to close this page down in the next couple of days. I will start a new page when the next term begins in December. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Cheers, phil

There are less than 24 hours left to vote. Many people have already voted but I'm hoping there will be a big surge tomorrow. The municipal office will be open until 8 pm for people who require assistance, need new PINs, etc.

About 10% of voters have already cast their ballots. Hopefully we'll get well over 50% turnout (this has been the average turnout over the last few election.) A couple of pointers. Enter the website address in the toolbar at the top of the page and not into a search engine. Do not be scared when you get asked if you are a robot. Simply click on the box that says "I am not a robot." reCAPCHA was developed by Google and can recognize the difference between a human and a robot with 96% accuracy based on how the mouse moves toward the box. There may also be verification tests, especially if the same machine logs in twice in quick succession. These are really straight forward and only take a few seconds to complete. The polls have officially opened. I went door to door yesterday and at one house the woman that answered said that I was too late, she had already voted- for me! For those of you voting online or be telephone, it is possible to vote at any time until 8pm on October 22nd. Anyone looking for a more traditional experience or requiring assistance can visit the Municipal Office during regular business hours (9-4:30) at 5 Main Street.

Great turn out for the all candidates meeting. Thanks to everyone for the support. I'm not sure the format was successful for all who attended but I appreciate all those who made the effort to stop by my table.

The all candidates night is this Thursday, October 4th at the Community Centre from 7-9 pm. Get ready for some.....standing around and talking to people. There is no question and answer session where candidates have to speak to everyone in the audience. A portion of the night is set aside for candidates to make speeches. I guess we'll see how it goes.

I found this in the mailbox today. Those of you with keen eyes will notice that my old address is on it. This seems to be a bit of an issue in the village but hopefully not for East Luther. Staff are updating addresses on returned notices as best they can. If you have not received this notice by the end of the week please let me know or contact the the municipal office at 519 928-5652. Starting tomorrow staff will be able to generate identification numbers on site. Please remember to bring either a tax bill or identification with your municipal address on it. For those of you with real jobs, staff will be in attendance at the all candidates meeting on October 4 at the GV Community Centre from 7-9 pm. In a worst case scenario, anyone eligible to vote can stop in at the municipal office once the voting period opens to register and vote, much like the paper ballot system.

I'm slowly getting my signs out. I don't attach a lot of importance to them but people seem to notice, especially if they are not in the 'right' spots! Thanks to all who are willing to have one on their lawns.

It was a great weekend at the Grand Valley Fall Fair. Lots of new attractions. Archery and axe throwing-brilliant. Human Hamsterball-awesome. Kudos to the organizers for having the courage to try new things. Thanks to all the volunteers for making it happen.
