The Goderich Public Art Group is pleased to announce that local artists’ Visual Art are on display in the Courthouse Square Park. The Environmental Themed Display was inspired by the David Suzuki Foundation’s “Art for Climate Justice”. The local Huron County Artists were chosen in December of 2021 by a panel of four judges who were not provided with the identities of the
Artists.

The judges were Tabatha Fisher of the Libro Community Credit Union, Shelley Peet of Something Irresistible representing the Goderich BIA, Kathleen Lush representing Green Goderich, and Judith Cu***ng of the Goderich Public Art Group. The paintings were selected by each panel member based on the panel members'
consideration of how well the work related to the theme, "In Love with the Natural World that Sustains Life".

The Display features the Artwork of seven Huron County artists, Angela Keely, Carol McDonnell, Crystal Brennan, Judy Barker, Linda Wiebe, Lindsay Whalen, and Reeka Spence. The Artists are permitting their chosen work to be displayed digitally on
aluminium panels mounted on the large Public Displays in the Courthouse Park.

Their work is complimented by works from the “Art for Climate Justice” program of the David Suzuki Foundation.

The David Suzuki Foundation hosted a collaborative Art Project that brought together creative people from diverse communities and backgrounds and they worked together to hone their stories and create compelling Art for Climate Justice. The Goderich Public Art group is composed of local volunteers committed to displaying Public Art as a way to enhance the Cultural Life of our community.

In particular the following people were instrumental in realizing this project. Elizabeth Vanden Broeck of Elizabeth’s Art Gallery for the digital reproduction consulting and many details. Phil Duncan of ArtTech in Seaforth for their professional printing skills. Greg Reynolds, Billy Pfannenstiel, Mike Cicchini for mounting the Artwork to the displays, Dean Whalen for overall coordination of this Exhibition. the panel of judges and to all of our supporters who donated to this project. And a great big thank-you to all of the Artists who submitted their work.

We particularly want to thank the Goderich Branch of the Libro Community Credit Union and the Goderich Business Improvement Association for their generous financial support of the Goderich Public Art Group.

Goderich Public Art is inviting local artists to enter one or two pieces of Visual Art for consideration in an Environmental Themed Display. This idea was inspired by the David Suzuki Foundation. We want to display pieces from this project along with pieces by local Huron County Artists. There will be an honorarium for each local piece of Art chosen to be displayed. The Art should be an existing piece that could be reproduced digitally in high quality. The dimensions of the reproduction subject to available space and technical limitations. It will be mounted on a panel and attached to the display towers in the Courthouse Park opposite Montreal Street. The Art will be chosen by a panel who will not be provided with the identity of the Artist. The closing date for submissions is Dec. 3, 2021 at 12 pm in the afternoon.
