Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the Fire Fighters Breakfast on August 2, 2026.
Despite the rainy weather, our firefighters and volunteers were proud to serve approximately 1,000 people.
Your turnout and encouragement made the event a tremendous success and showed, once again, the strong community spirit that makes Goderich such a special place.
We are grateful to all who came out, to those who helped organize and volunteer, and to everyone who continues to support our local fire service. Your support helps us continue serving our community with pride.

Official Release – Fire Ban Lifted in Huron County



The Huron County Fire Chiefs have announced that any Fire Bans that were in place due to the wildfire smoke and poor air quality are officially lifted on July 21st.



With the recent rainfall and improved conditions across the county, outdoor burning can now safely resume in accordance with municipal by-laws and any required permits.



Residents are reminded to continue using caution and to follow safe practices when burning:

• Never leave a fire unattended

• Keep water or firefighting equipment on site

• Ensure fires are fully extinguished before leaving

• Follow municipal regulations and obtain permits where required



The Huron County Fire Chiefs thank all residents for their patience, cooperation, and understanding while restrictions were in place. Together, we can continue to keep our communities safe.

Due to poor air quality and ongoing dry conditions, Goderich Fire will not be issuing any open-air agricultural burn permits until further notice.
This is not a burn ban; however, Goderich Fire strongly advises residents to avoid any unnecessary burning at this time.
We appreciate the community’s cooperation and understanding as we work to reduce fire risk and protect public health and safety.
Updates will be provided when conditions improve.

We are honored to acknowledge the outstanding 30+ years of collective service, sacrifice, bravery, and honor of Firefighters Vanderburgh (18), Depatie (6), Craig (6), and Sproul (4) - absent. These four firefighters have embodied the true meaning of bravery, selflessness and consistently putting the needs of others before their own. We express our heartfelt gratitude to their families for their unwavering support. Gentlemen, your contributions to this department have been immeasurable, and you will be deeply missed. We wish you a happy and well-deserved retirement.
