Terra Nova National Park of Canada provides a stunning example of the Eastern Newfoundland Atlantic Region characterized by boreal forest and irregular rocky coastline. The landscape of the park varies from the rugged cliffs and sheltered inlets of the coastal region to the rolling forested hills, bogs and ponds of

the inland. Terra Nova National Park also possesses a rich human history including the remnants of both Aboriginal and Euro-Newfoundland seasonal settlements and the impacts of logging and boat building in the area during the 18th-19th centuries.

For this National Public Service Week, we would like to take a moment to say a big thanks to the many public servants at Parks Canada who work hard to keep our National Historic Sites, National Parks, and National Marine Conservation Areas running smoothly.

Here are some of our hard-working staff here at Terra Nova National Park - thank you team!

In honour of Nature Photography Day, share your best photos with us in the comments, our inbox, or by tagging us and in your post!

Remember, when viewing or taking photos of nature, if it's a close-up of wildlife you're looking for, remember to only use binoculars or a telephoto lens.

Happy Canadian Rivers Day everyone! 🌊🐟

One of Terra Nova National Parks many rivers, Northwest River, is particularly important due to its salmon populations. That's why we're thankful for the efforts of the Atlantic Salmon Recovery program in Atlantic Canada for helping return these fish to their waters.

Let's continue to support conservation efforts that protect and preserve our precious waterways for future generations.

🎉🐟🌊

Black bears are now active in Terra Nova and you may come across one on a hike, in the campground or on the highway.🐻

Anytime you see wildlife, follow the steps in the posters below and keep a safe viewing distance from bears (100 metres). If approached, don't run! Back away slowly and act big - make noise, wave your arms, and try to scare it away.

Please report sightings (when and where) to the visitor centre or campground kiosk staff, or by calling 1-709-571-0470

Remember, always store your food, cooking items, dog food and garbage properly when adventuring this summer. Spread the word that feeding is illegal and dangerous! Let’s all do our part to help
