Happy Graduation to our Glace Bay High School graduates 🎓

Last week, as I sat signing just under 300 graduation certificates for Glace Bay High’s class of 2024, I read each graduate name before signing. I was struck by how many are former students of mine and then my mind wondered back to the past 20 years of classroom experiences that I was blessed to share with my students and colleagues.

Graduating is a very special occasion, not only for the grad, but also for the parents and guardians who have supported and encouraged the child over the last 13 years. Now, suddenly, the big day is here.

To the 2024 class of Glace Bay High, I hope you look back on this day with great pride and a sense of accomplishment. Graduation is a time to reflect on your achievements with a sense of closure of one chapter and the beginning of a new chapter. Now is a time to look forward to a future filled with possibilities, now is the time for you to make decisions based on your own interests.

Earlier this year, our government committed $18.8 million to a school lunch program aimed at improving children's nutrition. This will ensure that affordable or free lunches are available to those that need it.

We are excited to announce the launch of this new school lunch program for elementary schools this October. The program will reach 256 schools and over 75,000 students.
