Thank you to the Optimist Club of Halton Hills for making our Swim to Survive Program possible for Grade 3 students in Halton Hills!

The Swim to Survive program, developed by the Lifesaving Society Canada, teaches the minimum skills needed to survive an unexpected fall into deep water. It is not a replacement for traditional swimming lessons, but rather a vital first step in drowning prevention. The program focuses on a single continuous, non-stop sequence of three critical skills:
- Roll into deep water: Simulate an unexpected entry and orient yourself at the surface.
- Tread water for 1 minute: Support yourself at the surface, catch your breath, and get your bearings.
- Swim 50 metres: Swim continuously to the nearest point of safety

Thanks to support from the Optimist Club and Town aquatics staff, Grade 3's in Halton Hills will be better prepared this summer as they play at the pool, the lake or out on the water.

Can you swim to survive? Register for our Learn to swim program today – it is never too late to learn! We offer lessons for infants, children, teens and adults.
