June is Seniors Month, a time to celebrate the incredible contributions, wisdom, and impact of older adults in our communities.

This year’s theme, “Ontario Seniors – Let’s Get Moving,” highlights the importance of staying active, connected, and engaged at every stage of life.

At Links2Care, we’re proud to support seniors in living safely, independently, and with dignity through programs that promote connection, wellness, and community.

Join us in recognizing and celebrating the older adults who continue to shape and strengthen our communities every day.

We’re happy to share highlights from the recent launch of the Community Paramedic (CP) program at 265 Kerr St., made possible through the work of the Community Hub Connector in Oakville.

While the program has been successfully supporting residents at 271 Kerr St. for several years, remaining the most attended CP program in the Halton Region, this launch marks an exciting expansion of services for residents at 265 Kerr St.

As of May 15, Community Paramedics will be onsite every Friday morning, providing weekly support that promotes healthy aging in place and strengthens community‑based care.

This initiative is a meaningful step toward building healthier, more connected communities.

Sometimes volunteering begins right at home with a simple act of caring.

Meet Taylor Carpenter, a dedicated volunteer with our Wheels to Meals program. Taylor started volunteering in July 2024, originally to help support his senior neighbour. Along with his family, Taylor has always gone the extra mile to ensure she’s cared for and when he noticed she was attending Wheels to Meals events hosted by Links2Care, he knew he wanted to be part of it.

Today, Taylor joins us monthly, helping pick up and drop off clients and offering something just as important as a meal: kindness, company, and support. For Taylor, volunteering is about brightening someone’s day and bringing positivity into their life, and that’s exactly what he continues to do for our senior community.

Beyond Wheels to Meals, Taylor’s commitment to community shines through in everything he does, from providing year‑round landscaping support for seniors, to being an active member of St. John’s United Church in Georgetown, and even collecting antique mason jars.

Thank you, Taylor, for the compassion you share and for the meaningful difference you make in the lives of those you support.

Our April Town Hall Meeting was more than an update; it was a moment to come together, reflect on our shared purpose, and celebrate the people who bring our mission and vision to life every day.

At Links2Care, our culture is built on care, collaboration, and connection. When our teams come together to listen, share ideas, and learn from one another, we strengthen not only our organization, but the impact we make across our communities.

The work we do matters and it’s our people who make it possible. Together, we continue to support individuals and families with compassion, dignity, and a deep commitment to community care.

Mental health challenges can look different for everyone and they don’t always show on the outside. This month is about creating space for honesty, compassion, and connection, and reminding one another that support can start with a simple conversation, a check‑in, or listening without judgment.

If you’re having a hard time, know that reaching out is not a weakness. And if someone you care about is struggling, your presence can make a meaningful difference.

Together, we can help reduce stigma and build a community where care and understanding come first.

We were grateful to attend the Community Foundation of Halton North - CFHN Showcase 2026, an inspiring evening celebrating community impact and the 2026 grant recipients across Halton North. Links2Care is proud to share that we were a recipient of this funding, which will support several initiatives at our Community Wellness Hubs in Georgetown.

Our Community Wellness Hub Coordinator and Manager of Navigation and Community Wellness Hubs were pleased to attend the event to receive the funds on behalf of Links2Care and to celebrate alongside community members, partners, donors, and supporters.

A heartfelt thank you to CFHN for their continued support and investment in local organizations. Together, we’re building a stronger, healthier community.

Every month, Linda turns an ordinary drive into something extraordinary.

She pulls up to a few homes, greets local seniors by name, helps them into the car and suddenly, their world gets a little bigger. A shared meal. Laughter around the table. Familiar faces. And a reason to look forward to the day.

For just a couple of hours, isolation turns into connection.
And for the seniors she drives, it often becomes the highlight of their entire month.

We’re looking for volunteers like Linda to be Wheels to Meals drivers in Halton Hills; friendly, reliable people who believe that showing up can change someone’s day.

Sometimes, the smallest acts make the biggest difference. Help bring connection, dignity, and joy to someone who needs it.
