Happy National AccessAbility Week!

In 1972, Roland Galarneau, a legally blind electrical from Gatineau, developed the Converto-Braille prototype, the first computerized system capable of transcribing text into braille.

Throughout his career, he continued refining his inventions and secured multiple for these technologies, helping improve accessibility for people with visual impairments.

The Running on Faith Project, a 2024 recipient of Canada’s Volunteer Awards in the Social Innovation category, is using movement and community to support people in shelters and recovery centres across BC.

Founded by Andie van der Eerden, the program helps participants build confidence, improve mental health and reconnect with purpose.
