Fire Prevention Week October 5 - 11, 2025

During Fire Prevention Week, we’re holding an Open House on October 9 from 7–9 p.m. at the Fire Hall.

We’ll have our trucks and equipment on display, and we’ll explain what each one is used for. You can learn about the tools we use and what each fire truck can do.

Interested in becoming a Volunteer Firefighter? We’ll have applications available and can walk you through the recruiting process.

Families are welcome! Kids can check out the trucks, and we’ll have fire prevention materials to take home.

Happy Gander Day!! It’s a beautiful day to come together and celebrate our community.

We do want to let you know about one change to the day’s plans: due to the very high fire weather index and heightened wildfire risk across the province, this year’s fireworks display has been cancelled.

While we know that’s disappointing, fireworks represent just a small part - about 15 minutes - of what Gander Day is all about. There’s still a full afternoon and evening ahead, with activities for all ages, chances to connect with neighbours, and incredible live music to close out the night. You’ll see performances by Neon Dreams, Carolina East, Kellie Loder, and more!

This decision was made with everyone’s safety and the health of our environment in mind, and out of support for the fire crews, forestry personnel, and first responders working hard across the province.

Thank you for your understanding, and for celebrating safely with us.

So, bring your lawn chairs, bring your friends, and enjoy a great Gander Day together!

🚨 🚨
Due to recent updates, the fire ban for the Town of Gander is lifted. Please enjoy back yard fire pits responsibly.
However, due to the dry conditions of recent weeks, it is strongly recommended that people refrain from using fireworks.
Thank you for you understanding,
Happy Canada Day!
