What a great day. 5 Fire Departments in Arcadia and Coles Island Fire got together for a day of training with Fire Training Associates to better our skills for Rural firefighting in NB. FTA instructors taught our members how to better serve our community with minimal staffing. They focused on 6 different skills to better our response and sources. Thank you to all the members that came on a Saturday, giving your whole day to better serve our communities and improve your skills, it is a true sign of the devotion you have for Volunteer Firefighting. Thank you to Jewel Beale for delivering these members a hot lunch. Thank you to the FTA staff, your knowledge and dedication that you bring, it is very valuable for our firefighters and officers.

Last evening, Chief McNally, Captain Burdett, Captain McNally, and Firefighter Mitchell attended a Fire Investigation Awareness Presentation presented by Matt Cassidy from the New Brunswick Office of the Fire Marshal at Greenwich Fire Department.

The presentation provided valuable insight into fire investigation processes and highlighted the importance of preserving fire scenes and recognizing key indicators during emergency response.

Thank you to Greenwich Fire for inviting us to join with your mutual aid partners for this informative and educational evening. We appreciate the opportunity to continue learning and strengthening our working relationships with neighboring departments. 🚒🔥

Tonight we headed to Queenstown Wharf for another great training night! 🚒💦

Members spent the evening sharpening their skills with hose handling, pumping, drafting, and deck gun operations. Training in a variety of environments helps ensure we’re prepared to respond effectively when our community needs us most.

The weather couldn’t have been better, with a perfect light breeze and beautiful evening conditions along the waterfront.

We finished up the evening with a refill at our own Gagetown Wharf before heading back to the station.

As always, thank you to our dedicated members for their commitment to continuous training and readiness. 🚒🔥

🚒 National Safety Month reminds us that safety starts long before an emergency happens.

At the fire department, safety is at the heart of everything we do—from training and equipment checks to emergency response and community education. Every drill, every truck check, and every lesson shared helps ensure our firefighters return home safely and that our community is better prepared for the unexpected.

This National Safety Month, take a few moments to review your family’s emergency plan, test your smoke alarms, and make safety a daily priority.

Working together, we can build a safer and more resilient community for everyone. 🔥🧯🏡

Tonight, at our final Capital District meeting before the summer break, we were treated to a BBQ hosted by the CFB Fire Department. After, we were bussed to the heliport for a unique behind-the-scenes experience.

We were given a tour of the helicopter simulator and learned about emergency procedures involving a Griffin helicopter. It was an excellent opportunity to see firsthand the training, technology, and teamwork involved in aviation training, tactics and emergency response.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the evening both educational and enjoyable. We appreciate the hospitality and the chance to expand our knowledge and skills! 🚁🔥🚒

June is PTSD Awareness Month

As firefighters and first responders, we witness events that most people never experience. While we train to handle emergencies, the emotional and psychological impacts of the job can stay with us long after the call is over.

This month, we recognize the importance of mental health and raise awareness about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Looking after ourselves and each other is just as important as looking after our communities.

If you’re struggling, know that support is available and you’re not alone. Check in on your fellow firefighters, first responders, friends, and family members. A simple conversation can make a difference.

You take care of others every day. Don’t forget to take care of yourself.
