We're Hiring: Hairdresser

York Care Centre is looking for an experienced Hairdresser to provide hair care services to residents and tenants on a contractual basis.

If you are passionate about helping others look and feel their best, enjoy building meaningful relationships, and are committed to providing exceptional customer service, we'd love to hear from you. The successful candidate will provide professional hairdressing services, maintain a clean and safe salon environment, and coordinate appointments to ensure reliable, consistent service for our residents.

The successful contractor will be responsible for maintaining a valid provincial hairstylist license, Workers' Compensation coverage, and professional liability insurance. Experience working with older adults is considered an asset.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the final show of our Summer Concert Series featuring Acoustic Rewind! This year’s series saw record-breaking attendance at York Care Centre, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came out to enjoy the music with us. Last week, we hosted our first-ever Water Wars!

A huge thank you to Amanda, Jasmine, and Jennifer for dressing up as ducks and frogs and travelling from courtyard to courtyard for residents to soak them with water! And thank you to Josie and our junior volunteers for helping with portering residents and getting in on the action.

We’re still not sure who had more fun, the residents or the staff!

What a great way to cool off and beat the summer heat.

🚨 Important Announcement 🚨 Summer Concert Series Postponed Until Monday, August 24th

Tonight’s Summer Concert Series, featuring Acoustic Rewind at York Care Centre, has been postponed due to rain in the forecast this week.

The concert will now take place on Monday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m.

We’re holding out for some sunshine to close out the 2026 Summer Concert Series at York Care Centre, and we look forward to seeing everyone next Monday for an amazing evening with Acoustic Rewind!

Our Summer Concert Series wraps up on Monday, August 17th with Acoustic Rewind! 🎶

Join us at 6:30 p.m. in the front parking lot at York Care Centre for some great music and dancing! Don't forget to invite your friends and to bring a lawn chair!

Our Recreation Team brought summer carnival fun to York Care Centre this week!

Residents could test their skills at Chuck a Duck and Skee-Ball, try their luck at the live slot machine, strike a pose in the photo booth, or head to the tattoo and face paint station.

And of course, one of the biggest hit was the face painting, thanks to the incredibly talented Astrid!

Summer students play an important role at York Care Centre, and we are incredibly grateful for the funding that makes these opportunities possible.

Thanks to the Government of New Brunswick's Student Employment Experience Development program, we are proud to welcome three students this summer in various roles as Rehabilitation Assistant, Activity Assistant, and Junior Volunteer Coordinator. This support allows us to offer more activities for residents and continue our Junior Volunteer Program, which has grown to more than 50 volunteers between the ages of 12 and 18 this summer. Thank you to our MLA, Luke Randall for Fredericton North , and our Member of Parliament, David Myles , for supporting programs that invest in both young people and our community.

Through the Government of Canada's Canada Summer Jobs program under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy, we have also welcomed two Maintenance Assistants and a Wellness Coordinator supporting Hawkins House and the Adult Day Program. Their work helps keep our grounds safe and welcoming, supports resident programming, and assists with major events such as our Summer Concert Series.

These students are making a meaningful difference every day while gaining valuable hands-on experience. Thank you to both levels of government for investing in opportunities that strengthen organizations like York Care Centre and help us provide the best possible care and experiences for our residents.
