Louise Lockhart, Senior Program Advisor with the Department of Public Health, will share everything you need to know to stay safe during extreme heat events this summer.

We’re bringing Nursing Home Without Walls (NHWW) to communities across Canada. Building on the program’s success in New Brunswick, we’re partnering with organizations across the country to help more older adults age where they call home. Participating organizations include Government of New Brunswick, AdvantAge Ontario, Pacific Northwest Division of Family Practice and the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

With additional funding for the scaling of this program provided by Waltons Trust, we’re connecting teams to funding, coaching, implementation support and shared learning opportunities as NHWW expands to new provinces and territories. This work reflects HEC’s refreshed 2026-2031 strategy and our commitment to spreading and scaling improvements that expand access to safe, connected, high-quality care closer to home for older adults.

Le programme Foyer de soins sans mur (FSSM) est en pleine expansion partout au Canada. Inspirés par le succès du programme au Nouveau-Brunswick, nous avons noué des partenariats avec des organismes de tout le pays pour aider davantage de personnes aînées à vieillir là où elles se sentent chez elles. Le gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick, AdvantAge Ontario, la Division de médecine familiale de la région du Pacifique Nord-Ouest en Colombie-Britannique et la Régie de la santé de la Saskatchewan font partie des organismes participants.

A big thank you to Mark Taylor for joining us last week for our Lunch & Learn and sharing his Parkinson's journey, as well as information about the resources and supports available in New Brunswick.

We would also like to thank everyone who attended. With more than 40 people in attendance, it was one of our largest Lunch & Learns to date! And a big shout-out to Street Greek for providing the most delicious lunch.

We are proud to celebrate an exciting milestone as our Nursing Home Without Walls has officially reached 200 clients in under two years! 🎉

When we launched this program, we set a soft goal to reach 200 clients by our two‑year anniversary in August. We are thrilled to share that we have not only met that goal, but we have exceeded it- with 204 formally registered clients, and having supported over 265 older adults in our community.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our clients, caregivers, families, community partners, and supporters for trusting in our program and helping us grow. Your encouragement and support have played an important role in everything we have accomplished so far.

We are incredibly proud of the work our team does each day to support older adults to age in place, and help reduce social isolation. Reaching this milestone is a meaningful reminder of the impact this program is having in our community.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We look forward to continuing to grow and supporting even more older adults across our community. 💙

🌟 Community Spotlight: Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada 🌟

Today we’re shining a light on Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada, a not‑for‑profit healthcare organization dedicated to helping individuals with vision loss live safely and confidently. Their team provides rehabilitation therapy and healthcare services tailored to the unique needs and goals of each person they support.

For some, that support may mean learning safe ways to pour a cup of coffee or prepare meals. For others, it may be the first step toward attending university, starting a new career, or building a family. Whatever the goal, big or small, Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada walks alongside each client with compassion and expertise.

They offer services over the phone, online, in their clinic, and right in your home, making support accessible wherever it’s needed most. Like us, their services are cost free. Their Fredericton office is located at 535 Beaverbrook Court, Suite 105, and they can be contacted by phone at 1‑844‑887‑8572. Services are available by appointment Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 4:00, and Friday from 8:00 to 12:00.
