Fredericton Botanic Garden Association The FBGA is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to establish a public garden for all to enjoy. In 1992 a Local Improvement Association was incorporated.

In 1989, inspired by their common passion for botany and horticulture, a group of local residents formed the Fredericton Botanic Garden Association (FBGA), dedicated to establishing a Botanic Garden in Fredericton. One year later, in 1990, the City of Fredericton dedicated a property at the west end of Odell Park and the Fredericton Botanic Garden was born. Since its establishment, the Garden has

evolved through the joint efforts of the members of the FBGA and the City. It consolidates the interest of the parties in the creation and improvement of the site. It defines responsibilities of each group with respect to the Garden, its maintenance and growth.

Congratulations to Sristhi Chopra, recipient of a well deserved Masters in Business Administration degree, from the University of New Brunswick. Sristhi spent a full year with the Fredericton Botanic Garden Association, through a UNB placement.

She demonstrated her marketing skills on an almost daily basis and taught us a lot! She brought in sponsors for the Plant Sale, made our social media numbers soar, set up multiple, profitable workshops, brought on new retail discounts for members, arranged multiple media interviews, set up a tv series on the Garden, last summer, had snacks donated for events - the list goes on and on.

We’d love to keep Sristhi, but sadly it’s not in our budget. She’s still doing some volunteering for us, but it won’t be the same as seeing her smiling face everyday, and listening to her great ideas.

We may have lost her as a colleague, unless we receive a large, unexpected gift, but we’ll never lose her as a friend.

It’s starting today!

The Fredericton Botanic Garden Spring Plant Sale returns today from 10 am to 2 pm and May 24 from 12 pm to 4 pm at 10 Cameron Court, Fredericton. From colourful annuals and hardy perennials to native plants, herbs, heritage tomatoes, and pollinator-friendly favourites, there will be something for every garden. And yes — no tax on plants.

BEHIND THE SCENES at the Fredericton Botanic Garden. This is the second year that our Vice Chair, Julie Wright, has organized a rain barrel fundraiser. They arrived yesterday, in a VERY big truck. All 102 of them were unloaded in jig time, thanks to Volunteer Eldon Toner, Gardener Jake Cadieux, Student Gardeners Ben McIntosh, Peyton Battle-Doiron, and Matthew Theriault. Executive Director (and author of this post) Linda Stephenson helped, but mostly carried a clipboard and took pictures.

Pre-ordered barrels are available for pickup at the Garden, 10 Cameron Court, between 10:00 and 2:00, on Saturday. We have extras, so if you didn’t order in time, you can still stop by and purchase one (or more).
