Labour Day is a chance to recognize the people who keep New Brunswick running. Since late 2024, we've reached 18 collective agreements covering more than 55,000 professionals across the province, including:

➡️ 9,300+ nurses

➡️ 7,800+ teachers, under a new five-year deal

➡️ 3,000+ allied health professionals, including paramedics, medical laboratory technologists, diagnostic imaging technologists and respiratory therapists

➡️ About 6,400 education assistants and school support staff

➡️ 10,000+ hospital support workers

➡️ We've also signed a new four-year agreement with the New Brunswick Medical Society to help attract and retain physicians and strengthen access to primary care.

These agreements reflect the hard work of the people who deliver services to New Brunswickers every day, in classrooms, hospitals, and communities across the province.

We are seeking input from employers, employees, unions, business organizations, human resources professionals, advocacy groups, community organizations and other New Brunswickers about the current legislation, Pay Equity Act, 2009, and how pay equity can be strengthened across the province.

We're helping equip the next generation of teachers to ensure that students are supported and ready to learn for years to come.

New agreements with University of New Brunswick, St. Thomas University, and Crandall University will help Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) students studying to become elementary teachers in the Anglophone sector receive stronger training in early literacy to help young students build stronger literacy skills.

This partnership also aligns B.Ed. programs with recently updated standards of practice for teachers in the Anglophone sector.

Caraquet will soon receive improved access to public housing! 🏠 Construction on a new 24-unit public housing development is beginning shortly, providing tenants safe, affordable units that they can call home.

Since the NB Housing Corporation was re-established in 2023, we have built or acquired 210 new public housing units, while 91 others in progress and 139 more are in the design phase.
