Since January, we’ve made measurable progress in key areas that matter most to New Brunswickers, as highlighted in our updated accountability metrics.

These metrics were introduced in January 2025 and reflect our commitment to transparency and earning the trust of our communities.

Highlights from the latest update include:

• Average weekly earnings have increased by 3.7%, surpassing the 2026 target of 3.0%.

• 194 affordable housing starts have been achieved so far, nearly halfway to the 2026 target of 430.

• 91% of schools are now equipped with updated carbon dioxide monitoring systems, ensuring better air quality for our students.

We are introducing Virtual Care NB – the new home of publicly funded virtual health care in our province.

The bilingual service will provide New Brunswickers with continued access to virtual care seven days a week while offering integrated access through the provincial health-care system. It will be fully launched by June 30.

Virtual care will be available at www.GNB.CA/VirtualCareNB, through the MyHealthNB website and mobile app, or through 811.

The benefits of virtual care include:

• scheduled appointments rather than waiting in a virtual waiting room, including appointments by video or phone

• no need to download an app

This is another step toward building a more connected primary care system that ensures New Brunswickers can access the right care, at the right time, by the right provider.

Protect yourself this season by staying tick smart: use the new tick bite tracker to understand where ticks have been most active in your area.

✅ Use insect repellent and stick to trails most travelled.

✅ Cover up with long sleeves, long pants and socks.

✅ Check for ticks on your body, looking for bumps and tiny brown spots.

✅ Remove ticks properly using tweezers.

✅ If you’ve been bitten, monitor yourself for symptoms.

If you develop a rash or flu-like symptoms within 30 days of removing a tick, book a check-up with your family doctor. In participating pharmacies, patients may now access care for lyme disease prevention after a high-risk tick bite.

The NB wildfire dashboard shows real-time wildfire information across the province.

It’s designed to help you quickly understand what’s happening on the landscape during fire season.

You can use it to see:

• Active wildfires and their current status

• Where fires are located across New Brunswick

• Burn conditions

• Information on ongoing wildfire activity

The map is updated in real time as conditions change so you can stay informed throughout the season.

We are focused on ensuring New Brunswickers can access the right health care, at the right time, from the right provider.

A new shared response initiative by Ambulance New Brunswick and Tele-Care 811 will connect people to the most appropriate care for their needs. At the same time, it will help ensure paramedics and ambulances remain available for urgent and life-threatening situations.

It's another step toward a more connected and efficient health-care system.

A new school lunch program is coming to every NB school starting in September 2026!

Here’s what you need to know:

• Lunches will cost $4 per meal for grades K-8 and $5 per meal for grades 9-12.

• Support will be available to families who need it to ensure no student goes without.

• Meal choices will include a vegetarian option. The program is designed to be as inclusive as possible but cannot accommodate all the dietary requirements of every student.

• The program is not mandatory so students can still bring a lunch from home.

School specific information, such as who will be providing meals, how to order, and how to access assistance, will be provided to families by their school later this year. This program builds on the universal breakfast program that was expanded to all NB schools this school year and which will still be available this fall.

No one was seriously hurt in this accident, but last year, there were 32 near misses, and several construction zone incidents resulted in injuries.
