The fall term for school is just around the corner. Let's all work together to help our students be safe:

✅ Stop when the bus displays red lights

✅ Follow school zone speed limits

✅ Watch for students crossing streets

Also, we encourage families to have open conversations about safety on streets. Recently we see more and more folks walking into crosswalks with undue care, sometimes without even checking that the street is safe to cross.

Safety on our streets is a group activity. Let's work together.

The HIZ shows how you can minimize your home and property’s vulnerability to wildland fire by addressing threats in each of the three priority zones, starting with the most vulnerable area, the Immediate Zone, and working your way outward. The HIZ focuses on reducing the opportunity for the spread of flames, and removal of points where embers can gather and ignite objects or buildings. Update at 9:51 p.m.: This evening at 8:47 p.m., all Fredericton fire crews were dispatched to a fire in a residential building on King Street, between Northumberland Street and the traffic circle. The fire was quickly located and extinguished by fire crews, who also conducted a thorough search of the building for occupants. The incident was declared under control at 9:24 p.m.

There are no reported injuries associated with the fire. Approximately 8–10 residents have been displaced from the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Update at 9:24 p.m.: The incident is under control.

Initial notification: Your Fredericton Fire Department is working at a fire in a residence on King Street near the traffic circle. Please avoid the area while firefighters conduct their work.
