! The works of Shakespeare span the centuries, from a letter written August 23, 1842 by John S. Saunders in Fredericton to his son, John Saunders, in Barony, New Brunswick: “The sky was very clear last night and as it was the morning that I started from Mr Ellegoods - the stars were most brilliant and not only reminded me of the passage in Shakespeare which we read in Darleys Astronomy, 'How sweet the moonlight sleeps upon this bank!
----Look how the floor of heaven
Is thick inlaid with patines of bright gold.'"
The same passage appears in a 1936 publication of The Merchant of Venice used at the Provincial Normal School.📖
