🌟🧡 WELCOME HOME, YVETTE CAPPO! 🧡🌟

Chief and Council are proud to welcome Muscowpetung member Yvette Cappo as our new First Nations Representative within the Muscowpetung Child and Family Services Unit. 🪶🤝🏽

🎓 AN EDUCATED AND EXPERIENCED ADVOCATE

Yvette brings a strong educational foundation to this important role. She earned a Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work in 2018 and pursued graduate studies through the University of Regina’s Master of Social Work program from 2020 to 2022. 📚🎓

Her extensive specialized education and professional training also include:

▪️ Responding to Trauma and Grief for Indigenous Communities and Organizations
▪️ Traditional Parenting Train-the-Trainer Certification
▪️ Equine Therapy Certification as a Mental Health Professional
▪️ Mental Health First Aid
▪️ Certified Grief and Loss Facilitator
▪️ Ministry of Social Services CORE 1–6 training
▪️ Structured Decision Making
▪️ Integrated Practice Strategies
▪️ LINKIN database and resource training
▪️ Perception Control Theory training

🏅 Yvette was also awarded a university scholarship and the University of Regina Silver Scholarship Award in recognition of her academic achievements.

⚖️ A VOICE FOR OUR CHILDREN

In her new role, Yvette will receive and review court notices involving Muscowpetung children in the child-welfare system. She will work closely with QBOW Child and Family Services, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Social Services, legal representatives, families and other service providers to ensure the Nation is informed, involved and prepared to stand up for every Muscowpetung child. 🧡

For generations, decisions were made about our ancestors, our families and our children without their voices being heard. Children were removed from their homes, separated from their families and disconnected from their languages, cultures and communities. Too often, our people had no one in the room to speak up, challenge the system or remind decision-makers where our children belonged.

Today, we are helping to end that silence. 🪶

Our children will know that they are not alone. They will be able to rely on someone from their own Nation to show up, speak up and ensure their identity, family connections, culture and community are never forgotten. Yvette will help bring Muscowpetung’s voice and cultural knowledge into child-welfare planning and court proceedings.

No Muscowpetung child should ever enter a courtroom without knowing that their Nation is standing beside them. 🤝🏽⚖️🧡

Yvette brings years of frontline and leadership experience in:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Child welfare and family support
🛡️ Prevention services
🔎 Family finding and permanency planning
🏡 Family-based and extended-family placements
📋 Case planning and assessments
🪶 Culturally grounded programming
🎓 Foster-parent and caregiver training
🤝🏽 Staff supervision and First Nations representation

She has previously worked with both QBOW Child and Family Services and the Ministry of Social Services, giving her valuable knowledge of the agencies and systems she will navigate on behalf of our children and Nation.

As the owner of Red Iskwew Consulting, Yvette has also provided culturally grounded child-welfare and prevention guidance to First Nations communities, agencies, Chiefs and leadership. Through her work with First Nations PRIDE and the Northern CACH Program, she has helped identify family-based care options, supported extended-family placements and trained caregivers through the PRIDE Model of Practice, A Tradition of Caring and cultural-component programming. 🪶🏡

Yvette Cappo’s hiring is about more than filling a position - it is about reclaiming our voice, exercising our responsibility and protecting the sacred connection between our children and their Nation. 🌱🧡

Our ancestors were denied a voice. We honour them by ensuring our children have one today.

Every Muscowpetung child belongs to a family, a community, a culture and a Nation - and we will stand with them. 🪶🤲🏽

Please join Chief and Council in welcoming Yvette Cappo to the team! 🎉👏🏽

Welcome home, Yvette. Our children and families will be well served by your education, experience, compassion and commitment. 🧡

🚨🔥 MUSCOWPETUNG INVESTS IN CAPACITY, EXPERIENCE AND OUR FUTURE! 🔥🚨

Muscowpetung Saulteaux Business Developments Ltd. is entering an exciting new era - and we are assembling the leadership team to take us there!

MSBD is proud to announce Glen Pratt as our new Chief Executive Officer, alongside Todd Cappo as our new Economic Development Manager.

Together, they bring decades of experience in Indigenous economic development, Nation leadership, corporate management, procurement, environmental stewardship, major projects and industry partnerships.

Their combined mandate is clear: build businesses, create employment, attract investment and generate long-term prosperity for Muscowpetung.

👔 GLEN PRATT - CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Glen brings more than 20 years of leadership experience working with Indigenous communities across Western Canada.

A former Chief of George Gordon First Nation and former Third Vice-Chief of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, Glen has managed major portfolios involving economic development, land claims, health, finance, justice and governance.

His corporate leadership experience includes serving as CEO of George Gordon Developments Ltd., CEO of Blueberry River Resources Ltd., Economic Development Manager with Touchwood Agency Tribal Council and President and CEO of Mayopayiwin Consulting Ltd.

Glen has extensive experience in:

⚡ Renewable energy
⛏️ Mining and resource development
🏢 Commercial property development
🤝 Strategic partnerships and major negotiations
📋 Indigenous procurement
👷 Workforce development and employment creation
📈 Corporate governance and business growth

While leading George Gordon Developments, Glen helped advance major partnerships, workforce programs, commercial developments and the 10-megawatt Pesâkâstêw Solar Project.

As CEO, Glen will lead MSBD’s overall corporate strategy, strengthen relationships with industry and government, pursue major investment opportunities and expand Muscowpetung’s presence across infrastructure, energy, transportation, construction and Indigenous procurement.

Glen brings the experience to help MSBD compete - and the relationships to help us grow.

🌄 TODD CAPPO - ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Former Muscowpetung Chief Todd Cappo will lead MSBD’s on-reserve economic development strategy.

Todd brings approximately 16 years of on-reserve leadership experience, six years in First Nations health and senior experience in operations, negotiations, administration and community engagement. He studied at the University of Regina and has held management positions with the Touchwood Agency Tribal Council and File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council.

Todd understands Muscowpetung from the inside out - our people, lands, history and untapped potential.

His priorities will include:

⛽ Expanding Skunks Corner into a larger commercial destination
⚾ Developing ball diamonds capable of hosting tournaments and major events
🏕️ Advancing cabins, campgrounds and outdoor recreation
🌄 Creating tourism opportunities throughout our hills and coulees
🎪 Connecting visitor experiences to our award-winning Powwow Arbour
🛍️ Developing new Nation-owned businesses and services

Todd’s personal vision is to make Muscowpetung a recognized Indigenous tourism destination - a place where visitors experience our culture, attend our events, enjoy our lands, support our businesses and return with their families.

Todd will ensure that MSBD’s growth is not only seen across the province - it will be built and experienced right here at home.

🌿 ERICA ANAQUOD - MANAGER OF PROCUREMENT AND LABOUR RELATIONS

Erica is a proud Muscowpetung member and resident who brings more than 16 years of hands-on experience in construction and project leadership.

Her impressive credentials include an Environmental Engineering Technology Diploma, a Business Certificate and completion of the Canadian National Nuclear Energy Management School at the University of Saskatchewan, delivered in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Erica’s experience spans:

🌎 Environmental consulting and sustainable development
⚛️ Nuclear and renewable energy
🏗️ Construction and project leadership
📋 Indigenous procurement
🤝 Industry and stakeholder relations
👷 Labour relations, training and employment

Erica develops partnerships with businesses and industry stakeholders whose values align with those of Muscowpetung. She works to ensure that Indigenous procurement commitments become real contracts, employment, training and business opportunities for MSBD, our entrepreneurs and our members.

She has already played an important role in advancing partnerships and employment opportunities connected to Brock–Muscowpetung Services and Muscowpetung TransDev.

Erica helps turn partnerships into contracts - and contracts into opportunities for our people.

🚀 ONE TEAM. ONE VISION. A BOLD FUTURE.

Glen will lead MSBD’s corporate growth and major partnerships.

Todd will drive on-reserve business development and Indigenous tourism.

Erica will connect procurement, industry partnerships and labour opportunities directly to our Nation and members.

Together, this leadership team gives MSBD the experience, technical knowledge and community connection needed to move at the speed of business while protecting the values and priorities of Muscowpetung.

We are investing in capacity. We are investing in experience. Most importantly, we are investing in Muscowpetung’s future.

Please join us in welcoming Glen Pratt and Todd Cappo to their new positions.👏🎉

The team is in place. The vision is clear. Now it is time to build. 🔥🚀

🌱 PUBLIC INVITATION: SOD-TURNING CEREMONY 🌱

Chief Melissa Tavita and Council proudly invite community members, families, Elders, children, partners, and honoured guests to celebrate the sod-turning ceremony for Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation’s new Head Start and Daycare Centre.

📅 Tuesday, October 6, 2026
📍 Proposed Head Start and Daycare site
Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation

This new facility will provide high-quality early learning and childcare services for up to 38 children. The centre will offer culturally inclusive programming that strengthens identity, encourages learning, and connects our youngest members with our Anishinaabe language, values, traditions, and community.

A Head Start and Daycare Centre creates a safe and welcoming place where children can learn, play, grow, and develop a strong sense of belonging. It will also support parents and caregivers, create new employment opportunities, and help build healthier families and a stronger community.

This is a major achievement for Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation and an important investment in our children - because when we invest in our children, we invest in the future of our Nation.

Congratulations to Chief and Council, staff, and everyone whose leadership and hard work helped make this vision a reality.

Please join us as we turn the first sod and celebrate the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our children, families, and Nation! 🧡🌿

Everyone is welcome!
