Structure Fire – October 22, 2026

At approximately 8:45 p.m. Thursday evening, Fort Frances Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at a welding shop on Sixth Street West.

Firefighters achieved a rapid knockdown, bringing the fire under control before continuing with suppression and overhaul operations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation; however, the fire is not considered suspicious at this time.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Fort Frances Power Corporation also attended the scene.

Fort Frances Fire Rescue thanks all responding personnel and partner agencies for their assistance.

Last night, firefighters worked through several NFPA 1006 Common Passenger Vehicle Operations skills! More Operations and Technician-level training coming in November! 🚗

🔥 STRUCTURE FIRE – STRACHAN PLACE 🚒

At approximately 7:50 p.m. Thursday evening, Fort Frances Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire on Strachan Place, with Ontario Provincial Police also attending to provide assistance at the scene.

The occupants had self-evacuated before fire crews arrived. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, followed by ventilation and overhaul operations.

All fire units cleared the scene at approximately 9:40 p.m.

As the heating season begins, residents are reminded to keep combustibles at least one metre away from furnaces, heaters and other heat-producing appliances. Have appliances inspected and serviced annually, and test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms monthly!
If a fire occurs, get out, stay out, and call 911. 🔥🏠
