The Township of Southwold reserves the right to remove all content posted to its social media platforms, including content that contains defamatory or obscene material or any material prohibited by the laws of Canada or other applicable jurisdictions. Examples of inappropriate content that will be removed by social media moderators include but are not limited to the following:
• P
rovides identifiable and/or personal information about staff members, elected officials, or members of the public, that is not publically known and without consent.
• Provides confidential Township information
• Promotes, perpetuates or fosters discrimination on the basis of race, creed, colour, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, nationality, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation.
• Is a personal attack on an individual or specific group.
• Is profane or abusive.
• Is sexually explicit or links to content that is sexually explicit.
• Conducts or encourages illegal activity.
• Is for the purposes of promoting a candidate for municipal, provincial or federal election.
• May tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems.
• Violates a legal ownership interest of another party.
• Does not comply with municipal, provincial or federal legislation.
• Is defamatory.
• Links to inappropriate content. Notwithstanding the criteria listed above, the Township reserves the right to edit, refuse to post, or remove, any content from its social media platforms at any time, without notice. Community Events:
Members of the public are welcome to submit event information for consideration for inclusion on the Township’s social media platforms. The Township may, in its sole discretion, post the information if that event is open to the general public, occurs within the boundaries of the Township of Southwold and meets one of the following criteria:
• Organized or funded by another level of government.
• Organized by a government-funded agency or board.
• Organized by a Township of Southwold committee or affiliated group.
• Organized by a charitable organization with a registered charitable number and operating within the Township of Southwold.
• Organized by a service club or community group operating within the Township of Southwold, performing work that benefits Southwold residents.
• Located in a facility owned or leased by the Township of Southwold. Disclaimer:
