UPLIFT Teen Employment Prep Program | AGES 14-17
This program is designed to support teens in building the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to successfully enter the workforce
Through a combination of group learning and hands-on experience, participants gain practical tools to navigate early employment opportunities
cost $250
PROGRAM COMPONENTS:
1. Group Learning Sessions | at Kootenay Discovery School in Fernie
April 29th 5:00-6:00pm
May 13th 5:00-6:00pm
May 27th 5:00-6:00pm
June 10th 5:00-6:00pm
Participants will engage in interactive sessions covering key workplace readiness topics, including:
- the job acquisition process
- what to expect on your first day of work
- professionalism and common workplace expectations
- working independently and as a part of a team
- what to do when you’re unsure or need direction
- understanding job roles, responsibilities and contracts
- navigating difficult conversations with supervisors or managers
- self-advocacy in the workplace
2. One-on-One Mentored Work Experience | 1.5 hours
Participants will take part in a supported work experience alongside an UPLIFT staff member
During this time:
- expectations are clearly reviewed in advance
- youth are guided in real-time to apply their skills
- staff provide encouragement and in-the-moment coaching
- constructive feedback is shared during and after the session to reinforce learning and build confidence
*to be scheduled near the completion of group sessions
3. Beyond the Program | Volunteer Opportunities
Upon completion, UPLIFT is excited to offer participants access to meaningful volunteer opportunities, allowing them to continue developing workplace skills, gain experience, and build confidence in a supportive environment
