This week the contractor continued the installation of sanitary services and main line storm sewer. Next week the contractor will complete the installation of the main line storm sewer and continue the installation of catchbasins, storm services and sanitary services. Road work will continue with excavation to subgrade and placing granular road base as required to maintain access. Northbound traffic (one lane) will remain on Main Street; and southbound traffic will continue to be detoured onto Church and William Street until construction is complete on the west side of Main Street.

Businesses remain open during construction; access to homes and businesses will be reasonably maintained throughout construction. With traffic disrupted and detours in place, please expect delays and plan accordingly.

It is a heavy day for the Ontario first responder community with the loss of OPP Constable Tarun Bali in the line of duty earlier this week and news this morning of Toronto Police Constable Marc Pinizzotto also being lost in the line of duty.

Locally, we want to also acknowledge the service of retired Exeter Fire Station District Chief Cam McLeod, who passed away this morning after a long battle against illness. District Chief McLeod retired from the South Huron fire department in 2011 after 27 years of service.

The South Huron Town Hall flag will fly at half-mast to commemorate the service of these first responders.

“Each of these individuals committed themselves to making their communities safe,” said Mayor George Finch. “On behalf of the Municipality of South Huron, our thoughts are with the families of OPP Constable Bali, Toronto Police Constable Pinizzotto, and retired Exeter Fire Station District Chief McLeod. They each unselfishly served their fellow human beings with courage and pride - please take a moment to remember them for their heroic contributions”.

The Municipal Offices at Town Hall and South Huron Rec Centre will be closed from 1:00 - 3:00 pm today for an annual all staff meeting.
Please note the South Huron Landfill remains open for regular hours today.

⏰A reminder that the next tax installment is due on June 15th, 2026. You can find the amounts owing on the 2026 Interim tax bill that was mailed or emailed to you in February or, if you would like to confirm the amount due, please contact our office at 519-235-0310 for assistance.
Tax payments are due in office by the due date. If paying online or at the bank, ensure to leave enough time for the payment to be processed by the bank to avoid late fees.
