Great news! County Road 43 in the Town of Tecumseh reopened this afternoon. It had been closed since Thursday’s severe weather because of downed power lines.

EMERGENCY ROAD-CLOSURE NOTIFICATION: County Road 43 (Banwell Road) in the Town of Tecumseh is closed from the south exit off the roundabout at County Road 42, down to Baseline Road, because of a downed tree and hydro wires.

UPDATE: The Tornado Warning has been rescinded.

Environment Canada has issued a Tornado Warning for the Windsor and Essex County area.

From Environment Canada: At 4:12 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado, is located over Michigan. This severe thunderstorm is moving quickly to the east at 70 km/h. Destructive winds, damaging hail and flooding rainfall are possible.

Locations and nearby areas that could be impacted include: Windsor, LaSalle

This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation.

Take cover immediately in a basement, interior room, or a sturdy shelter when threatening weather approaches. If no shelter is available, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris. If you are out on the water when threatening weather approaches, return to shore and seek shelter, if possible, or move directly away from the path of the tornado. Otherwise, wear your lifejacket, lie face down and protect your head.
