Olympic biathlete Emma Lunder (Emma Lunder Biathlete) began her journey at 63 Kalamalka Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps in Vernon, B.C.

Inspired by her brother, Emma joined for the fun and discovered her passion for biathlon along the way! “I joined because I saw my brother having so much fun and I discovered biathlon along the way! From regionals to nationals, cadets gave me the chance to learn new skills in a supportive environment. Without those first years, I would never have found my Olympic sport.”

Through cadets, Emma gained much more than just a passion for biathlon. She learned leadership and teamwork, commitment and perseverance, and gained the confidence to chase big dreams.
Her cadet experience was the springboard to an incredible athletic career. Emma competed for Canada at two Olympic Winter Games (PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022) and multiple world championships, helping the Canadian women’s relay team land a top 10 finish in 2018. Her Olympic journey is proof that dedication and the values you learn as a cadet can take you far.
Emma’s message to girls in cadets: “Try everything even if it’s outside your comfort zone. Cadets is a safe space to explore, and you never know what you’ll fall in love with!”

The sense of community and teamwork Emma found in Cadets motivated her throughout her athletic career. Her story shows just how far inspire you to go, dream big, and reach for your goals!
