Make safety a priority this long weekend with these firework safety tips:

๐Ÿ’งBe prepared - keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby during firework festivities.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Light it safely - fireworks should be lit one at a time - then step back quickly. If it doesn't go off, never relight it!

๐ŸŽ‡ Clean up - after the fireworks finish burning, soak them completely in water before disposing of them.

Important reminder: Consumer fireworks are only permitted in Woolwich Township on Victoria Day and the day immediately before between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. and only if all Fireworks By-law requirements are met.

Fireworks are not permitted in parks, on streets, or near dry grass and wooded areas. Fireworks may only be discharged on private property with the property owner's permission.

Don't let this holiday turn into a hazard, enjoy a fun and safe long weekend by attending a public fireworks display run by professionals! It's the safest way to enjoy fireworks.

We had a wonderful afternoon filled with fun, learning, and community connection at the Prepared Together event. This event focused on helping community members stay safe and prepared through hands-on learning and engaging activities. Attendees learned about fire safety, flooding awareness and water safety, rope and water rescue, as well as emergency preparedness for families and pets.

The best time to prepare for an emergency is now - donโ€™t wait to make a plan, build a 72-hour emergency kit for your family (including pets), and stay informed!
