Friday flying into the weekend!

The future is now Elliot Lake. Labour Day weekend has arrived.

We've got Jenny and Dave playing sweet tunes down at Westview Park, 6pm - 8pm. The Travelling Tin & Pop and Freeze will be there to satisfy all your snack cravings. This is your last chance to enjoy free, local and beautiful music at the Pavillion so don't miss it!

Day Before Labour Day Scramble is on at Stoneridge this Sunday, with Putters making all the crabcakes and delights you'll miss soon enough.

Nookend, the annual celebration of bouldering, climbing, community, conservation and adventure is underway at The Nooks on the Little White River just off Highway 546. Curious? Take a drive to explore your wild backyard and meet some of the most passionate advocates for climbing out here.

The Aurora trout are calling from Sorley Lake. Harvesters are headed out and about, so please remember to wear bright colours if you're bushwhacking just out of town.

But most of all you delightful humans, root down where you are and celebrate just being here, at season's change, in this beautiful place under these wide open skies.

We got a little calendar lucky this year, enjoying what really feels like a very long August. But it's here, the last long weekend of the summer and we're curious as to your plans.

Are you headed out to the trails? The Elliot Lake XC Ski & Bike Club is running the Bob Stirling tonight at 5:30pm. But a nice walk around the Porridge Loop sounds lovely.

Or maybe ATV/quad/SXS is more your speed?

Sucking the marrow out of those last long evening swims, the coldest of currents swirling through your toes?

Are you fishing or getting ready to harvest?

We know you're Sheriff Creek Wildlife Sanctuary parkrun -ning on Saturday :)

Or maybe you're doing laundry, resetting sleep schedules, packing back packs and assembling school supplies.

Whatever it is dear community, we sincerely hope it's full of joy and wonder.

The Elliot Lake Arts Club is happy to bring to you once again this year, the 15th Annual Elliot Lake Arts on the Trail.

Saturday, September 26, 2026
9:00 am to 4:00 pm

We have 33+ artists in 5 locations in and around Elliot Lake, Ontario

1. The Elliot Lake Arts & Heritage Centre, home of both the Elliot Lake Arts Club and the Model Railroad Club. In addition to the open studios and the model railroad room, this year we are happy to host the Elliot Lake Woodcarvers.

2. Elliot Lake Secondary School. 14 artists and our Young Artists Exhibit.

3. Moose Family Centre. 9 artists.

4. The New Dunlop Lake Lodge. 6 Artists

5. South Bay Park. 4 Artists

In addition, we will have emerging artists scattered throughout the locations

A wonderful way to enjoy the arts and enjoy the fall colours.

As a bonus, AJ Buslines will be providing a shuttle bus to all of our locations. This is a free service and a great way to enjoy the show and scenery.

The City would like to give a big shout out to the Elliot Lake XC Ski & Bike Club and all of their hard working members and volunteers. When they're not out enjoying the trails they're out helping keep them in top shape!

The hard work done on the trails by their summer students and their dedicated volunteers help keep the trails beautiful and available for public use. Make sure you get out on the trails and experience the beauty of Elliot Lake yourself and if you see a club member along the way, be sure to stop and say thanks.

As much as we hate to admit it, Summer is winding down here in Elliot Lake and that means it's almost time to say goodbye to our hard working beach lifeguards. But don't worry, there's still time to squeeze in a few more swims before supervised swimming ends.

The last days for supervised swimming at Elliot Lake Beaches are:
Spine Beach - Sunday, August 30th
Spruce Beach - Monday, September 7th

After these dates lifeguards will no longer be stationed at the beach and any swimming will be done at your own risk. Thank you to everyone that paid us a visit down at the beaches this season. We can't wait to see you all again next summer!
