Playground update.
I know this is a hard ask, especially after such a long wait, but we are asking that everyone using the playground please respect our request to stay off the newly laid sod until the signs are down. I know it’s hard to explain to kids but their little feet sink deep and we want them to love this playground like their own.
The sod is surviving the heat thanks to lots of water but this makes the soil squishy underneath until the roots establish and hold things in place. There have been bike tracks and foot prints which makes the sod edges separate, it then dries out and dies. I was a landscaper and have seen how messed up things can get if the sod is used too soon. If a ball goes onto the sod walk flat footed and slow.
About 120 volunteer hours went into the soil prep and sod laying and we’re moving sprinklers 12x a day to keep it happy. Please respect the time that people are putting in and I will let people loose as soon as I can and the few weeks of waiting will be worth it.
