Here’s the latest on the deadly incident at CFB Wainwright from the official CAF news conference. Information Courtesy of Sarah Ryan- Global Edmonton

Several injured soldiers are improving
*Acute Care Alberta confirming the 12 soldiers who are no longer in hospital have injuries that dont require that high level of care.
*However, the 27 injured victims that remain are in serious condition.
*Each family has been assigned a CAF assistant to help them navigate this process

Cause of fire
*The military police confirm the fire was started on the gr***de range by military training exercises. *Base firefighters could not put it out because the blaze was in the permanent danger zone.
*The fire was being monitored from the time it originated up until the deadly incident but it was not considered a threat to the Charlie company of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light infantry troops working on another range.

Fire behaviour
*The CAF says the winds caused the fire to move quickly and unexpectedly on top of the troops.
*The military police state there was no explosion associated with this fire.

CFB Wainwright
*Training has already resumed, however the Charlie company returned to Edmonton yesterday (Wednesday)
*Remaining troops are doing dry training without am******on

Investigations (no timeline for them)
1. Chief coroners office
2. Military police
3. CAF Board of inquiry

“There are difficult questions about what happened. I am acutely aware of our responsibility to establish the facts, share the findings, and act on what we learn. And we take this responsibility very seriously. I remain firmly committed to making this happen with transparency,” said General Jennie Carignan, Chief of Defence Staff.

With 97% of the counting completed, answers for refrendum questions from 6 to 9 is no. If this holds true after 100% counting, that means Albertans trust federal government more than current Alberta government and don't want to change the constitution to give Alberta government more powers.
