"Many members of the public assume that EVs are no better than gasoline cars if the electricity that powers them comes from fossil fuels. But grids have gotten greener, and even in areas with the most carbon-intensive electricity, EVs almost always come out ahead, the researchers found."

Think EVs don't make sense in cold climates, or that a dirty power grid cancels out the benefits? Researchers find the opposite is true—and that EVs cost no more to own than a comparable gas car almost anywhere in the U.S.

You’ve dropped your waste in the cart or bin—curious about what happens next? 👀

Attend one of our free behind-the-scenes tours of the Edmonton Waste Management Centre to find out!

You’ll learn how your waste is processed and what happens when you sort your food scraps and recycling.

Tours take place June 1-6 and are open to residents over the age of nine.

The City of Edmonton - Local Government has developed a strategy to help reduce wildfire risk where neighbourhoods meet natural areas like grasslands, ravines and the river valley.

Aligned with the FireSmart framework, this long-term strategy focuses on reducing the potential of physical and economic losses from wildfires, protecting people, property and the environment.

From June 1-6, the City is hosting 14 free behind-the-scenes tours of the Edmonton Waste Management Centre!

♻️Learn what happens to your waste once it leaves the curb
♻️See how recycling and food scraps are separated and processed
♻️Discover how the City and residents can work together to protect the environment

For residents who can’t drive to the EWMC, tours on June 1 and June 6 will include an option to be picked up from the Clareview LRT Station.
