Building Hope We reach out to the people of Beverly & surrounding communities in NE Edmonton with hope and help.

Building Hope is a Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Center serving the Greater Edmonton Area. Building Hope started with a location in the Beverly area in 2000 providing hot meals, drop-in activities and a clothing and food bank to families in need. Building Hope expanded to a second location in Sherwood Park in 2013 and that location offers a variety of counseling services. Building Hope serves to fulfill a simple mission “In the Name of Jesus, we will love”

After feeling so alone, a simple hello, a cup of coffee, and a safe place to share their story are where true hope is rebuilt. Imagine seeing a neighbor shivering and hungry. If you just walk by and say, "Hope you stay warm!"—but offer no coat and no food—did your words actually help? Absolutely not.

This is the sharp truth in James 2:14-17. James asks, "What good is it... If someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?"

Faith isn't just a nice feeling; it's a verb. It’s most alive when it moves from our heart into our hands and feet. Faith without deeds is useless—it’s dead (v. 17).

Genuine faith compels us to notice the person who needs help and to act. It's the difference between talking about caring for our neighbors and actually showing up to build hope, one meal and one relationship at a time.

Call to Action: Don't just wish your neighbors well. Put your faith into action and support the tangible work of Building Hope!

We said this same thing a year ago, but it's still true. We’ve never served this many people before.

Each and every month in 2026, we served more guests than the month before. More and more people are coming through our doors, seeking a warm meal, a kind word, and a place to belong.

The need is growing—and we want to be ready.

Building Hope is more than a building; it's a feeling. It's a place to gather.

Every day, our neighbors in Northeast Edmonton come through our doors for a hot meal, a warm sweater from the clothing bank, or just a place to rest when the cold hits.

Dear God,

We pray today, with grateful hearts for every hand that serves a meal, every volunteer who shares a smile, and every gift that keeps our doors open at Building Hope.

Thank you for the abundant hope we see every day: for the clients who become friends, for the resilience in our community, and for the spirit of neighbor-loving-neighbor in Beverly and beyond.

Inspire us to live with open hearts and generous hands, continuing to share your hope with all who need it most. Amen.

As we gather around our tables in gratitude, many of our neighbours are turning to Building Hope for a meal, a welcoming place, and a reminder that they are not alone.

In January, Building Hope served 1,940 plates of food. By July, that number had grown to 2,500—a 29% increase in just six months.

And breakfast? What was about 70 plates a morning a couple of years ago has grown to 140 plates every morning.

In July, we reached 300 emergency food hampers in one month, given to those who were searching for food security, up from 180 per month just six months before.

Behind every plate, every hamper is a person or family. Our neighbours. Someone worthy of dignity, compassion, and hope.

This Thanksgiving, you can help keep hope on the table. 💙
