🌈 Happy Pride Month from Chrysalis! 🌈

At Chrysalis, we believe everyone deserves to be celebrated for who they are. We proudly support adults with disabilities from all backgrounds, identities, and sexualities. Our community is a judgment-free zone where people are encouraged to be themselves, express who they are, and feel a true sense of belonging.

To celebrate Pride, we hosted a vibrant Pride Party filled with creativity, self-expression, and fun! Participants enjoyed a special Lady Gaga look-alike performance, snapped photos with the performer, designed their own Pride pins, and shared their creativity through colourful chalk art.

Pride is about visibility, acceptance, and celebrating the unique qualities that make each of us who we are. We are proud to create spaces where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves.

Happy Pride! β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ

A Great Day at the Bowling Alley!

Recently, a group of Chrysalis program participants enjoyed an afternoon of bowling, laughter, and friendly competition. While there were plenty of strikes, spares, and high-fives, the real impact of the day extended far beyond the scoreboards.

Community outings like this help people with disabilities stay active, build confidence, and form social connections. Cheering for friends and celebrating personal achievements created meaningful memories and strengthened relationships.

At Chrysalis, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to connect with their community, try new experiences, and have fun along the way. This bowling outing was a perfect example of how recreation can support inclusion, independence, and well-being.

Here’s to great friends, wonderful memories, and many more strikes in the future!

🌱 Every seed planted tells a story.

In our Community Garden program, participants roll up their sleeves, get their hands in the soil, and take an active role in growing vegetables from seed to harvest. Along the way, they're also growing confidence, independence, and valuable life skills.

Each task whether it's planting, watering, weeding, or caring for the garden throughout the seasonβ€”creates opportunities to learn, make decisions, take responsibility, and experience the pride that comes from seeing hard work pay off. Participants build problem-solving skills, practice teamwork, stay active, and develop meaningful connections with both nature and their community.

What starts as a small seed becomes an opportunity to learn, contribute, and experience the pride that comes from watching something grow through your own hard work and dedication.

Today, on Red Shirt Day, we proudly wear red to celebrate inclusion, accessibility, and the incredible contributions of Canadians living with disabilities.

Held annually on the Wednesday of National AccessAbility Week, Red Shirt Day was inspired by the story of a young man named Easter Seals Ambassador Michael Jacques. Michael wanted to show his support for people with disabilities and create a more inclusive Canada. Today, that spark has grown into a nationwide movement, encouraging everyone to stand together and advocate for a barrier-free future.

We see the impact of inclusion every day. Through meaningful employment, community connections, and personalized support, as the people we support are:

πŸ”΄ Building confidence
πŸ”΄ Gaining independence
πŸ”΄ Pursuing their personal goals
πŸ”΄ Making valuable contributions to our communities

We know that when barriers are removed and opportunities are created, people thrive. Red Shirt Day is a powerful reminder that inclusion isn't just about awareness, it's about action, true belonging, and ensuring everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.

Join us in wearing red today and showing your support for a more accessible, inclusive Canada!
