Happy 2026 Newton Residents!

As we enter into the new year, Newton is seeking volunteers of all interests and skills. We have a number of board positions that require interested candidates before the Annual General Meeting in June – notable positions include President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. These candidates will be provided with onboarding, mentoring and transition training – we promise you won’t be thrown into the deep end! Volunteers are supported not only be the existing volunteer base, but have a variety of resources through the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues and neighboring communities.

We understand that a formal board position may not be an option for everyone, so we encourage interested folks to get involved at whatever level and capacity they can – that might mean throwing an event or delivering advertising. Opportunities of all sizes and interests exist!

Please join us on January 20 at 7 PM to learn more about opportunities, socialize with neighbors, and ask questions of both the EFCL and our City representative. Filling these critical roles will be necessary to keep the league open and flourishing beyond the June AGM.

See you there!

What Programs Would You Like to See This Fall?

As we start thinking ahead to fall (yes, already!), our community league is looking at expanding the variety of programs we offer—and we’d love your input.

Is there something you or your kids have been wanting to try? Whether it’s artsy, sporty, techy, or just plain fun, we want to know what you think would be a great addition to our lineup.

We’re also curious—would you be open to paying a small fee to attend a program? This could help us bring in great instructors or cover materials. Nothing big—just enough to help us offer more options.

Drop your ideas and thoughts in the comments, or send us a quick message. We’re all ears!
