e4c We believe in a future where poverty isn’t a part of anyone’s story. nonprofit with 20+ programs helping more than 13,000 people each year.

We acknowledge that e4c operations and services take place on Treaty 6 territory. Our vision is the elimination of poverty through collaboration with interest groups, faith communities, service organizations, funders, businesses, government and the community at large. Our mission is to change lives and grow communities:

• To be a supportive and empowering presence in times of individual, family and community need;
• To create opportunities for people to become self-supporting, and to lead in the growth of inclusive and caring communities;
• To be dedicated to program and service excellence, and to place high priority on collaborative partnerships, inclusive transparent operations, promoting public awareness and building broad community support; and
• To be responsive to emergent needs, and to continuously seek new and creative opportunities to improve and develop services in our areas of expertise. Our core values will continue to guide our culture, behaviour and action. They are Courage, Compassion, Connection and Commitment.

A little creativity, a lot of connection, and some beautiful fall colours. 🍂💛⁠

We were grateful to be part of Fairmont Hotel Macdonald 100 Days of Caring, spending time together creating beautiful fall centrepieces and enjoying an afternoon rooted in community and connection.⁠

Moments like these are a wonderful reminder of what can happen when people come together with care and intention.⁠

As the colder months approach in Edmonton, we want to make our housing supports a little clearer.⁠
⁠
e4c offers a range of housing options for youth and adults who need different levels of support. Depending on the person and their circumstances, that can include emergency housing, transitional housing, longer-term supportive housing, or help finding and maintaining a home in the community.⁠
⁠
There is no single housing solution that works for everyone. Different people have different needs, circumstances, and goals, which is why having a range of supports matters.⁠
⁠
Beyond housing itself, support can also mean connection to basic needs, life skills, wellness and mental health supports, community resources, and people who are there along the way.⁠
⁠
As temperatures drop, we’re grateful for the staff, partners, donors, and community members who help make these housing supports possible.

Thanksgiving often centres around shared meals, traditions, and gathering with the people we care about.⁠

It can also be a meaningful time to think about what helps communities feel strong and connected. Food is part of that. It brings people together, supports everyday routines, and creates space for care and connection.⁠
⁠
Food security is connected to so many parts of daily life, including housing, family life, learning, and community support.⁠
⁠
That is why food is part of the support offered across e4c programs, from early learning and school nutrition to housing and Hallway Café.⁠

As the school year settles into its rhythm, consistent access to nutritious food can play an important role in helping students move through their day. 📚🍏⁠

When students have food available at school, it can support focus, routine, connection, and a greater sense of stability in the classroom.⁠
⁠
That’s why school nutrition is about more than meals. It is one part of creating an environment where students can feel supported, included, and ready to participate in their learning.⁠
⁠
Through e4c’s School Nutrition Program, students in participating Edmonton schools have access to nutritious food throughout the school day, alongside the care and consistency of Nutrition Support Workers.⁠
⁠
With Thanksgiving approaching, it is also a timely reminder that access to food can look different from one household to the next, and that ongoing support throughout the school year matters.

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour Survivors, their families, communities, and all those impacted by the residential school system. 🧡🪶⁠

Our work takes place on Treaty 6 territory, and we are grateful for the relationships we have built with Indigenous individuals, families, and communities across Edmonton.⁠

Those connections are an important part of our work and a reminder that reconciliation is ongoing. It asks us to keep listening, learning, reflecting, and showing up with care.⁠

It was such a meaningful celebration of Chinese culture, community, and good neighbours, and we were grateful to be part of it.⁠

Meet Holly O’Brien, Program Director at e4c and General Manager of The Hallway Café. 🍽️⁠

Holly helps lead the café at Edmonton City Hall, supporting the team, the program, and the day-to-day work that keeps everything moving.⁠
⁠
One of the things she loves most is seeing familiar faces return to the café and reconnecting with the regulars who continue to support the work happening there.⁠
⁠
Her leadership also plays an important role in helping The Hallway Café continue creating meaningful learning and employment opportunities for youth in Edmonton.⁠

WEAC is more than a building. It is a place where women can find short-term accommodation, shelter, connection, and support when they need it most.⁠

Located in the Quarters neighbourhood in McCauley, WEAC is part of our work to support women in our community with dignity, compassion, and care.⁠
⁠
Every woman who walks through the doors brings her own story, strength, and courage. Our role is to help create a space where she can feel supported, connected, and able to take the next step at her own pace.⁠
⁠
Programs like WEAC are an important part of a stronger Edmonton community, one where people can access support, feel seen, and know they do not have to navigate difficult moments alone.
